Indoor jungles

I've been kinda worried, like, back of my head, not really thinking about it yet, semi-concerned about the light/plant situation in my NY housing.  I knew I could get grow lights and such but I've not been too sure how it was gonna happen and what my plant options were for such low, low light ( Read more... )

Hey, I never claimed to be one to wrap gifts in a fancy manner;-)

As far as moving it to the NY, get a big box, crumple up some newspaper(they have that kind of thing in small towns right;-)), and fill the box about one thirds full. Wrap the pot of the plant in a grocery bag and tie it off(make sure you've watered it a day or two before, but not the day of shipping). Place plant in box, and cover with a layer of crumpled up newspaper. Tape shut and send off on a two-three day mailing schedule. I've done this before with a 100% success rate. Just make sure you get a big enough box.

Speaking of which, how big has it gotten? Now you've got me dying of curiosity!

Loves!

P.S. Ferns are great for dark rooms!

Thanks Jai, I've considered that shipping method because I've purchased a few plants online and received them in perfect health and safety. I just still don't trust it with this plant. It's got huge empty spaces between long delicated limbs. Makes me nervous.

And thanks and duh on the ferns. Even a beginner knows ferns are low light, but who the hell wants a house full of ferns? I need VARIETY! That's why I was looking for others, and I've found them, so please, no need to list off any others you can think of... ;-)

You could also use these plants:

Yada Yada,
Blah Blah...;-)

If you are very careful about packing the plant and make sure there aren't any gaps, it should work fine. Just make sure it's plenty snug.

You could try taking it on the plane, but I think that's against TSA regulations...

And maybe I want a house full of ferns. Did you ever think of that before making such a statement and sending me off into an unending spiral of depression;-P
