my 3-year old 120g WD hard drive conked out and stopped spinning. it was clicking, but i gave it to a highly-paid computer tech who couldnt get it to go, but now i have it back and it doesnt do anything. i have pics, videos, and my own music projects that i'm most concerned about getting backed up. i'd say that all that would fit on 2 dvd-r's. personally, i think if i get a new circuit board screwed on there (it's not hard-wired), i'd have a good sporting chance with it. i also heard of a "stick the HDD in the freezer" technique that i have not tried yet. and i cant afford $100 for a new hard drive now to replace it; let alone the $800+ it would cost for a pro to "try" to get the data off.
any suggestions? what are my options? referrals? (need any more info?)
tankaya!
and i promise not to bring it up if/when we hang out the next time you come to minneapolis! :P
