LiveJournal Days are numbered

Oct 26, 2009 16:38

MySpace gone for a couple weeks now with no impact and the days of LiveJournal, for me, are numbered -- is there anyone here that I do not yet have added to Facebook?

LOL! Dude!

Murdock owns Facebook.

I remember a few years ago people were aghast, AGHAST I say! that I had not obtained my very own MySpace.

Yeah, stick around. I got some really good shit coming down early next month...

You're going to force me to use Facebook, aren't you? I've been resisting. It's okay, I will. I have one, just haven't done a damn thing with it yet. Is it really all that? Facebook I mean. Are you able to list the pro and con about it vs. LJ? Myspace sucks, never liked it - a kiddie toy and not much more. Facebook though? Seriously? What makes it better?

Depends on how mobile you are. That's the primary appeal for me. But I know Spider and a number of others hate it; it can be wildly overwhelming. It's better for mental blips, less good for filtering.

Yeah, I have and use Facebook and it's ok for some things, but not for really keeping with what's actually going on in the lives of my friends. Besides, some of the communities on here kick ass compared to Facebook.

In following the thread -- yeah -- the BIGGEST strike against Facebook is that blasted inability to set up filters .....not a fan of that. Too -- there are a few communities (well one) that I follow here, which I wouldn't be able to. Thing is for me, I only really have social networking access via my cell phone at all times (and e-mail) -- LJ is VERY unfriendly for that, it's much more heavily used than LJ, it's easy to hide people when I really dont care what they have to say, its feature set is getting more and more rich as time progresses, even the use of "Notes" is LJ like ...but rather unintuitive to get to.

it really does boil down to ease of accessibility from a mobile perspective coupled, really with "that's where the people are"

Stay, I may have joined but will still mainly post important stuff behind the filters here

Dammit -- that alone is compelling :( -- the lack of privacy on FB is a bitch -- just hard to get time to actually maintain 2 social network sites!

i don't post near the way or the frequency that i used to, but i'm keeping LJ for the simple reason of having all my entries saved in one place...

Checked out LJ Archive -- or that thing where you can connect your LJ to facebook?
