bad joke of the day

*clears her throat*  "PAGING DOCTOR HOUSE. WHERE ARE YOU DOCTOR HOUSE?!?!"  What we have here, ladies, is a medical mystery concerning my littlest monster-boychild.

I got there this morning to have the mom tell me that she was staying home because she was concerned about smallest dude and would i mind getting the other boys up and to school.  Sure, not a problem. So super interactive G-Man and i giggled through breakfast and then had an AWESOME cuddle session on the couch (he's totally 'with it'.  Like pulled me in for multiple hugs and kisses! This is so wonderful).

After i got middle boychild up, mom brought smallest downstairs and told me that she took littlest dude back to the ER last night because his limbs looked bruised they were so swollen.  At the ER, they prescribed Naproxin (a super powerful anti-inflammatory that most people can't take because it causes ulcers) for an 18 month old! They then diagnosed "Serum Sickness" (basically it's when a kiddie is allergic to the serum that the virus/bacteria is mixed with for a vaccine) which is rare but does happen within 14 days of a child getting vaccines...so you're thinking "Great! They know what it is!" but here's the thing....it has been 9 WEEKS! since he had his 16-month vaccines, so that doesn't really make sense. They also said that this is only the beginning and that it's going to get way worse before it gets better...how much worse can it get? He can't see out of his left eye because it's swollen shut, he won't walk because his joints are so sore and he's one big rash covered sore. Oh, and get this, it lasts 14-21 days!

So i took the boys to school, came back to the house and stayed with Travis while mom went for a run (i didn't mind because i got cuddle time with my best little guy). Let's put it this way, his advil (given for pain/fever control) lasted for less than 30 minutes. Then he was back to limping and not wanting to walk. This is the kid that LOVES to run and dance and goof around.  He spent most of the time, in my arms with his head on my shoulder.  It's breaking my heart.

Mom told me that she would pick up the older boys after school, so i was done for the day. I called her around 130 to see if she wanted me to head back into town and get the boys, saving her from taking Travis out and she said that her mom was there because her and her husband were taking Trav to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.  She admitted that she wasn't comfortable with the Serum Sickness diagnosis and she was totally worried about the climbing fever, swollen limbs and the fact that Travis hasn't HAD vaccines in the last 14 days.  She texted me about an hour ago and said that the rash has the docs baffled (never a good thing) and that they were still in Toronto until they can figure out what it is.  I should find out more tomorrow when i go to take G-man to school.  Today is May 30 and here is today's joke:

Q: How many square dancers does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A: Four, and you have to walk them through it a few times.

see you tomorrow!
