BEDA Entry 20: All or Nothing

Apr 20, 2009 21:14

I have started this entry multiple times today. I started to write it about my uncle as it's been three years today since he's passed on. Then I decided to write about other personal things that happened today, but I've decided against that too. Not because they are unimportant, but frankly, this blog is not a personal diary. It doesn't need to be ( Read more... )

Great entry. It's a shame that so many people are all or nothing, but those people are also the same kind who say "I hate facebook" then register for it a month later and "I'll never have a twitter" and then they build up 6,000 followers before deleting their account.

This is so true. I've known many people that have deleted accounts only to get them back again.

Also, I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I fangirled a little when I saw your comment. :)

I guess this is the hot topic today, because this was what I was going to talk about. Not so sure if I really have anything new to say after Alex, Alan and now this. But I have nothing else to talk about so I'll add in my two cents in my blog cuz my response was getting too long here.

I applaud those people who stick to their guns on an issue, but not if it's to the point where they shut out the opinions of others. When there's no communication, ideas can't be shared and minds can't be changed. If we don't know what the other side of an issue thinks, we can't really respond to it appropriately.

I think that I see your point about not being "all or nothing." but i also think some people literally get addicted to sites and cutting them off entirely is the only solution that they can see. I dunno, at least for me anyway.

This is VERY true. I should have mentioned this also. I've felt I've been overly addicted to sites before and the only way I would/could stop is if I deleted them. I guess moderation and balance is the whole key.

I feel the same way as you do on pretty much everything you talked about in your blog, but instead of rehashing it all I'll just say that people do indeed need to get along with each other and be more open to differing opinions from their own. And I know where you're coming from with the "Christian" issue; I'm also a Christian, and I'm sad when I see people who use that name for themselves, and then act in a completely un-christlike manner.

I so agree. It sickens me when people do that, and I can totally see why people would be turned off by the idea of Christianity when people behave that way.
