what did i tell you about people dying?!

so last night i get an email from this person on myspace who is investigating schools and wilderness programs targeted towards "troubled youth".  they wanted to know about my experiences with my old boarding school which is one of the places being investigated.  this led me, eventually, to the forum that some of the alumni have set up on myspace.

Wow. I'm sorry to hear that-- I only know of one high school classmate to have died, and that was in Iraq. However, you can be proud of your friend for making the most of his life while here, with an interesting career and dating famous actresses. In the end, that's all we can really ask for...

(I know it's not. It still sucks, and makes one grapple with one's own mortality, which we shouldn't have to be concerned with in our mid-twenties. Otherwise we'd be having mid-life crises in our pre-teens.)
