Ben pushed himself out from under the Corvette and wiped his hands on his pants. It had been fairly easy to get the parts that he needed to fix Haley's car, it was just the negotiating of the price and then the time to install the pieces that took him so long

Haley was at the piano. She usually didn't answer the phone when she was trying to work, but one glance over at the vibrating caller ID, and a big grin crossed her face as she went to answer the phone. Ben had always managed to find the time to call her when she was busy, so them missing each other had become pretty frequent.

She pulled off the headphone she was wearing and grabbed the phone as she went to pick it up. "You know, I almost thought you didn't want to talk to me."

"Well, your answering machine and I were starting off on such a nice relationship that I didn't want to insult it." Ben found himself smiling. "Anyway, if I had called as often as I wanted, then I wouldn't have been able to finish working on your car. Which I did. Finish, I mean."

"She's done?" she said brightly. "Really?" Yes, that completely sidetracked her from the flirting she was supposed to be doing and focusing on her baby.

"Yup. Just finished putting in the last part and was thinking that I need to take her for a test drive to make sure everything's running nice and smooth. You got time, maybe you could do the driving and I can do the listening."
