I feel really sorry for Paris Hilton. She doesn't deserve special treatment because she's a celebrity, but she doesn't deserve to be treated worse either. Six weeks in jail seems a little harsh for what she did. I think it's part of the ransom of being famous. Her early release really did look unfair (even though it now seems that prison overcrowding does lead to these 1/10th terms), it made the justice system look bad and it made sentencing look lenient.

As for the crying, well, hey, life's hard. I have little pity for drunk drivers. She could certainly afford a cab when needed.

Uh, no. She was initially charged with DUI, and then tossed in the slammer for breech of probation. 6 weeks is hardly enough. 6 years sounds about right.

There is absolutely no excuse for driving under the influence, and laws should be a lot more strict than they are. I for one, refuse to lose another family member due to drunk driving.

Throw her stupid, spoiled ass in jail and throw away the key. I'm not saying do this for her alone because she's the world's stupidest person (which, in my opinion, she is), everyone should be chucked in the slammer for a DUI without possibility of parole.
