Much thanks to my Co-Author raisedbymoogles for infecting me with her Roddy-muse and allowing me to run rampant with him and for all of her input in this fic.  *snuggles tight*

And thanks to wicked3659 for the title <3<3

Nice job writing the race bit, very believable and it worked well for robots that have more than one form they would consider natural.

What does being a pet entail though? Are you born to a certain status, because it doesn't sound like you start there and work your way up. Can pets become citizens? Do they have rights?

Thank you! <33 *wiggles excitedly* I've never written a race like that before

All mechs and femmes are born as citizens to their various cities. So far, as far as my brain has allowed, Iacon is the only city that plays this game. When registered pets (Volunteers and in some cases Medical with the okay from their physician, but not convicts as their collars actually have an inhibitor to keep them from procreating) get sparked/decide to have a sparkling, they set aside their pet status and return to their normal, everyday lives to raise their child in as normal an environment as possible. Sparklings are not allowed to be pets, even if it's the sparkling of two mechs that are pets already. If the mechs decide that they really can't handle raising it on their own, the sparkling goes to a youth center during the day and returns to its creators at recharge time for reinforcing the creation-creator bond.

Pets that are convicts can eventually earn their citizenship again, if they've proven themselves to be respectable, reformed ( ... )

So lets see if I have this- free has either no collar, or whatever colour they like. White is medical. Black is convict. You get escorted about and told where to be, how to behave.

Well... sort of. Medical collars are handled a lot more delicately than the convicts. In the case of the black-collars, Yes, you get escorted around and told where to be, how to behave, when to talk and when to shut your mouth. White collars are more out of necessity and have very little actual controlling outside of maintaining their fueling/maintenance/medication. Think of Percy and Skyfire: Perceptor spoke very bluntly with Skyfire and rarely addressed him as 'Master' with absolutely no repercussions, whereas Roddy will be expected to address his Master as 'Master' and display proper obedience or he'll be punished - starting simple at first, obviously, because even after Kup's evaluation a mech likes to know where his own strength lies in comparison, but gradually becoming more severe. Sometimes it's a shock-therapy kind of thing, humiliation is commonplace for disciplining black-collars, but is pretty much a no-go for white.

Oh, I love Prowl in this. Rodney's going to have lots of 'fun' with Kup, I'm sure. Little of it good, I rather hope.

Hee thankies. Prowl's a smug bastard but... He's fun like that X3

Oh Roddy's gonna have a grand ole time with Kup... Because Kup's job, essentially, is to find and record all the little hotspots and buttons and drive a mech to his breaking point without going past it. Recording what makes him rev, what makes him cringe, how well he responds to certain things, so he can be paired with the Master that will be most beneficial for him.

And black-collar mechs HATE him for it.

I'm sure. I'm looking forward to reading more. Both with Kup and Roddy's eventual Master.

Black-collar mechs?

Thanks! ^.^ I have to give the credit for Roddy to Moogle, she's a very convincing Hot Rod.

None of the Autobots are going to mistreat him, if that reassures you any... but I can't make any promises on behalf of the Decepticons. Because even without the war, some mechs are just plain evil...

but that's way, way later in the story.

Thankies! <3 I've been trying to get this thing started for months @.@ So far like 80% of the fic is mapped out in drabbles and one-line reminders of scenes so bear with me, kay? ^//^;;
