One of the big milestones for a baby is rolling from their back over to their front. Typically they hit that milestone around 5-6 months. Somewhere around that time Evie did it once and I think it was an accidental turn over rather than an on purpose turn over ( Read more... )

Awww, Evie Bea! I'm sure that she will soon forget herself and stand up and not realize she was afraid of pain, before.

She is so damn cute.

One of the kids that Jesse mannies was way premature, so he's a little behind where he should be, but catching up. He hasn't started walking yet, but he's doing this ape-like crawl thing that I have never seen before. He uses his fists for balance and then moves his left knee forward and then his right foot, and the gait makes him look like a mini gorilla. The kid's parents are anxious about him walking, but I would like to see him hang on to this stage for a little while longer.

I watched a 45 minute video online called Science of Babies, and they showed different ways that babies crawl. I was amazed at some of the ways they adapt and crawl so that they can get around!!

Crawling is very good for them. It teaches them balance which is necessary for walking, and it also helps develop the connections between the two hemispheres of the brain. And apparently, learning how to adapt and crawl in whichever way works is equally as important as crawling the "right way." Go gorilla baby!!
