At my largest (125k, I'm now 109k), my sides touched the bath, that was horrible.

Wow, the most I've ever weighed is 55k, so I can't imagine being there. Was it because you were unwell, or was it something else?
Is it the kind of thing that just sneaks up on you by such small amounts you don't notice, like kids getting taller? Or were you aware of it and just not able to do anything?
Sounds scary.

It was a combination of badly managed depression and fibromyalgia, and what I suspect are subclinical insulin resistance issues, as since I've been trying to have low GI foods I lost an initial 7 kilos (over two years, without exercise due to the fibro), and after reading http://www.ukfibromyalgia.com/nutrition/hypoglycemia.html in May this year, I've lost another 9 :-)

I'm not proud of it, but I've not been a healthy weight for my height and build for years, and despite being over 40, I'm now determined to keep going until I am, which will be about 50 kilos all up, hopefully, and I realise that's a *person* in weight!

I think that's excellent, age has nothing to do with it, the health benefits will be great regardless.

As far as I can tell fibro's where CSF/ME was a few years ago, and is just starting to be properly diagnosed, investigated and treated, but only starting. Hopefully it will get to where CSF/ME is now.
Bart's now has a dedicated centre (recenlty on bbc news) set up by my Dad's friend.

Here's hoping fibro gets the same didicated research and you can get the kind of benefits CSF/ME patients are getting.
