and for the.....
True story of the afternoon!!!
So
kyurii and I were carpooling back to my house when we (
kyurii's mom [the driver],
kyurii, and I) hear a funky noise coming from the car. At first we think it's just the bumpy road, but when it had stopped and started again on the freeway, we thought, Oh shyzits, something's wrong with the car!!! oO; Then we think, Or the tire...
We're in the carpool lane with the solid double yellow lines, but t'was urgent, so my mom had no choice but to *dundunduuuun* break the rules (
minitotoro: What rules?). It took a while before my mom could find the red triangle button, but she found it (with some help). Yeah... but when we were cutting all the way across the freeway with the funky noise not subsiding, the car behind us drove slower and cut as well (shoot we made him break the law with us *sudden realization*). Because of his purposeful laggy driving, he gave us a lot of space to actually change lanes (which was SO nice of him [them... perhaps because they were in the carpool lane too... ^-^;]).
When we get to the second to last lane,
kyurii and I look out the window and there goes our tire. oO; (
kyurii: Indeed.) The tire rolled without a center (see picture) and hit the curb on the last lane, rolling over and down the weedy hill (where it embedded itself behind a light pole). When we finally manage to pull over, I stick my head out the window (smart of me, since we were right in front of the Exit). And I confirm, that our tire is indeed missing. As I roll the window up, another guy drives past us and sticks up his thumb for good luck (joyful isn't it?). We sit in the car and call my dad to tell him what happened (after several failed calls) and home to tell them we were going to be late.
After about five minutes after pondering and waiting, a light blue greenish teal (or something) car parks a few feet ahead of us and also puts on the light which requires the pushing of the red triangle button. A (
minitotoro: hot) guy comes over and asks us a few questions about AAA and a spare tire. So when chit chat be over, he takes the spare tire as well as the tools out from the back trunk (not without accidentally damaging the cardboard [*gasps* noooo]) and proceeds to fix our car. He makes sure we're not too far out just as a precaution. Meanwhile,
kyurii and I are taking random pictures and talking about how nice the guy is.
After the guy is halfway done, a police car drives up behind us and parks a little bit farther out into the Exit Lane so that other cars that pass by will make around and since he's a policeman no one will bother to "accidentally" hit us (a.k.a. murder). So when we're all done, we call my dad to tell him we are okay and we head back on the track. We thanked the policeman as well as the man who helped us. The really sad thing is that we (
kyurii's mom,
kyurii, and I) all thought that the other had gotten his name. *sigh* So... in the end we only refer to him as the anonymous good samaritan (which is a cool name in my book).
