Woke up this morning feeling like a hag. Snuffles, scratchy voice. Tried to call in sick but the bossman wasn't having any of it. Well, I dragged my sorry ass into the office and plunked myself on my chair and did what little work there was and left. I managed to breathe on him a time or two as well. Hope he gets sick just in time to make his trip to Panama a little bit uncomfy. Serves him right. Ben wasn't feeling great either so I let him stay home from school. Some kids have all the luck. I want to be a kid again. Having the bod I had when I was his age wouldn't be half bad either since I can't just pick up a new one at Walmart. They can stuff their smiley stickers.
Took the oldest to his Volleyball tournament. God bless the boy, he tries so hard but he is really not a very good player. They aren't a very good team. They have moments were things gel and they play superbly... but then they always fall apart. Tripping over each other, not calling the ball, hitting ones that are obviously out of bounds, etc. Or my favourite, watching the ball come over the net and hit the court without any one moving to get it. Matt, bless him, is so nervous about screwing up it's painful to see sometimes. And of course tonight, out of 4 games he played in one. He thinks that they lose because of him. I've got news for him, every one on that team has screwed up royally on more than one occasion. I've seem them all play brilliantly, and all play like spazzes. I said to Matt that he played in one game and they lost 4. So how can the other 3 losses be his fault? As well, because he's a bit of a geek, the other guys think it's cool to blame him as well. I told them all that if they all played half as well as they expect Matt to play, they'd all be pros and to clean up their own act before they shift all their blame on someone else. The tournament continues tomorrow and Matt does not want to go, however, I'm trying to teach him that he made a committment to the team and he has to follow it through. Tomorrow is the last day for the season so he only has to play 2 or 3 more games and then he's done. The kid will never be a responsible adult if I keep letting him quit things when they get a bit tough.
Speaking of which...he'll be able to drive in two years. And possibly vote since they are thinking of lowering the voting age to 16. I don't know about you, but the idea of Matt driving and voting just scare the bejesus out of me right now. Actually I'd trust him to vote. He would take it very seriously.
Well, the beer is gone. I might as well call it a night.
Toodles.
