The morning after: Ryazusith's first flight, in which D'baji's Nverath was the winner. A tad angsty, but not overly so, read on!
(The actual flight log will be posted soon.)
Ground Weyr 1
You enter into a comfortably sized weyr that is large enough for two dragons to curl up in peace without disturbing the other. A few tapestries hang on the walls giving the place a feeling of home, instead of a place to just convalesce away from the others. In the back a divided sleeping chamber with a couple of beds is curtained off so the riders can sleep with a bit of privacy.
D'baji is here.
Obvious exits:
Out
Minka rolls over. Slowly, a slight yawn escaping from between chapped lips. "Mrf." Then those brown eyes snap wide open. What the... Think back. And as the memories of last evening cascade back into reality, Minka cringes and closes her eyes for a moment in a silent thought. Shells. Resigning to the next set of events, Min rolls as gingerly as she can - there's always the chance she can move without disturbing the occupant next to her. She sheds a quick look, mentally cursing herself once more as it's D'baji's form who she lays eyes upon. Now this, will require quick thinking. At once, she turns, gaze locking upon the exit. Freedom. Sweet, blessed freedom.
D'baji has been sleeping with women for a very long time. Which means that he's become sensitive to movement on a shared bed. But not in a way that would prompt him to wake up at the slightest vibration. Rather, sensitive in a way that, when Minka does all this careful rolling over and the like, Deb's first instinct is to turn over and toss an arm in her general direction. And the bronzer emits some sort of rumbly noise that sounds remarkably like the type his dragon so often makes.
Almost out of the bed, nearly there..! Drat. Foiled. By an /arm/. Minka sits back, gazing at the ceiling in irritation. Curses upon you, gold hormones. Min tosses a look in D'baji's general direction, and with a huffy sigh, decides the best course of action is likely to wake the man and get it over and done with. Minus the awkward meeting later. She reaches her index finger out tentatively, whilst pulling the sheet up to cover herself and ensure decency, poking the bronzer on the forehead. /Poke/. "Wake up."
It's probably for the best that D'baji is poked in the forehead. Otherwise, chances are he would've tried to curl up with the goldrider, and that really would just be embarrassing. But he -is- poked in the forehead. And he responds to this with another rumbly thing- this one bordering on a far more human groan- while his brow furrows up. And sure enough, an eye is opened. Then, the gravelly reply of, "No."
Minka frowns and decides quickly enough to continue poking, "Now!" She clings to the blanket that covers her, inching sideways a little and settling back in her corner of the bed, knees bought up to her chest. Her free hand is now implemented to rub her forehead anxiously, "D'baji, get up. Seriously." She settles for a stern look now, fixating it upon the bronzerider: If all else fails, be annoying and stare. People always wake up eventually.
Continued poking has D'baji going so far as to tug his arm back towards him. "How 'bout later?" is drawled back, though the man's head is now off the bed (courtesy of an arched neck, of course). The other eye is opened, and both eyes blinked (in unison; skill). "Seriously, eh?" And then there's the yawn. And the arm that had so recently grabbed at Minka has its corresponding hand rubbing at his face. "Right, I'm up..." Pause. No doubt his turn to backtrack. "Shards." And then there's a laugh that's just bordering on a giggle.
"How about /now/." Min continues her staring and so forth, grumbling as he finally seems to come to. And laughs? Oh no he didn't. If a face could resemble a redfruit, Minka's does so now - cheeks flaring red, "Don't you dare laugh at me, D'baji.. I, I.." Stuttering takes over and for a moment she debates a dummy spit, then simply turns her back, dragging the sheet with her unceremoniously half falling and sliding from the bed. Straightening up, she huffily stalks a few steps then turns to glare: "I can't believe this. This is Nverath's ferret-gifting fault!" And so she stands there, wrapped in a sheet, torn between running and abusing.
D'baji props his elbow beneath his chest, now having managed to elevate his full upper body from the mattress. "I'm not laughin' at you," the man offers in as consoling a way as he can, a little grin forcing its way onto his lips. "S'just... Shards." And he rather unceremoniously flops back onto the bed, arm barely managing to get out of the way in time. "S'just been a while since 'Ver's been like really... goin' for it. Exhaustin'," is finished. And Deb, in all his hirsute glory, rolls onto his side and squints at the huffy goldrider. "An' yeah, s'part his fault anyway."
Minka casts her gaze to the ground, tracing an invisible pattern along the ground with a toe, "Well, what now." She returns to the bed, sitting on the end of the mattress and still avoiding any sort of eye contact with the naked male who resides within it. The 'Exhaustin' comment earns a muffled hiccup, Min's face flaring once more with colour as she lowers her head, face sinking into the relative comfort of her hands. Mutedly, she replies, "Mostly. Ah well, it's done now." Luckily, any grins, are missed, Min continuing, "It's alright for you anyway... Well sort of. Will, she be mad? Siren?"
Maybe D'baji's sympathy senses are finally tingling or something. 'Cause, once Minka's seated, with her head in her hands, Deb actually sits up (if in a lounging Roman kind of way), making sure to keep himself covered with a sheet (probably more for Minka's benefit than his own), and peers her way. "Yeah, s'done... Siren... will probably be fine with it. She's weyrbred, y'know? She can deal with it." A little shrug is offered at this point. "How 'bout you?"
"I'm not really worried about myself. I just, don't want.. Well, Siren to be angry with me. Not that we have all that much contact, but still. Things like this are inevitable, and from the day Rya hatched, I've braced myself for it. So, I guess I'm just, thinking it over." She looks up now, folding hands in lap, and glances towards the rider, "I just don't want to step on toes, and I was hoping, that by now, I would've perhaps had a weyrmate, or something-" She pauses, then shakes her head, "Ugh, I sound ridiculous. I just thought it would have made things easier, but it's done and over. And I'm fine. I'd ask how you are, but your grin gives it away." At lease now she'll crack a half-smile, followed by yet another blush. She'll turn permanently red if it keeps up this way.
D'baji seems to have a skill for making women blush. Hn. "Nah. I mean, Siren an' I've talked about it before." He takes a moment to sit up straighter, drawing one knee up (under the covers) to his chest, and wrapping an arm about the raised leg. "Y'know, kinda started talkin' about it seriously right when 'Ver took an interest... but even before, 'cause s'just... You ride, you're bound to end up sleepin' with someone you're not seein' at the timme one day. It just happens." And before he gets didactic or something, D'baji's mouth shuts. And in something of an afterthought, bronze gives a soft little smile and offers, "Nverath's real happy right now, y'know."
Minka heaves a sigh, "Well that's a weight off at least. And I know. And I feel like a darn fool for working myself up over it. Even after knowing all this time. I guess it just gets easier though, I can look forward to that." She shifts slightly, pulling the blanket about her shoulders a little tighter, "Well, I'm glad he is. Ryazusith is too, but then again, it's hard to get any sense from her today - she's infatuated with this idea that she'll be having eggs to look after soon." Minka rolls her eyes, "If at all possible, I think this is just going to make her nuttier." Min grins, rolling a corner of the sheet between thumb and index finger, "Nverath keen to be a clutchfather again, or is he just delighted he's won the flight, eh?"
"Ah yeah, eggs..." Deb muses, idly rubbing at a calf muscle. "'Ver's a good dad. He'll help out as much as Ryazusith'll let him." A bit of a smirk is offered here. "I don't know her as well as you do, Min, but I think she'll be okay with havin' him to boss around, eh?" And at this point, the bronzerider feels it necessary to change the subject again with the comment of: "I'm hungry."
"She'll revel in the fact she has someone /else/ to boss around other than myself for a change. I wouldn't worry, I have a feeling she'll share most of the time, since she's got that holdgirl crush on him.." She grins at the last comment, "Ah, that sentiment, I definitely share." And with that she begins to dress, only slightly embarrassed by the fact the bronzer is still in the same room, "I guess I'll see you in the caverns, in that case."
