Summary: Even small things can hurt.

Out in the middle of nowhere there was an abandoned building. Today, however, the old building was once again full of activity as nine young and handsome men danced passionately to the beat of loud music. The music and the sounds coming from the dancing men seemed to bounce off the walls of the large room, which had a hard concrete floor and pillars here and there.

Now you might wonder who those nine men were and what they were doing in such a place. Well, the young men were none other than the members of ZE:A and they were currently shooting their new music video. The MV shoot had just begun, so everyone was still in a cheerful mood and danced their hearts out as they filmed the group shots.

While they were going through the dance choreography for the umpteenth time one of the members, namely the rapper Heechul, suddenly tripped on an uneven part of the floor and fell against one of the pillars in the room. His left upper arm hit the pillar hard and stung with pain, so he instinctively grabbed the hurting arm with his other hand. Taeheon, who was next to him, saw this and leaned over.

“Hey, are you okay?” he asked in a low voice.

“Yeah, I'm fine.” Heechul rubbed his arm a few times in an attempt to make the pain go away and threw a reassuring smile towards the umma of the group, but as he turned away he couldn't stop a grimace of pain from spreading over his face.

He did however not have time to think about his aching arm any more since the other members had already moved back into position. So instead he bowed towards the staff, apologized for interrupting the shooting and went back to his place. What he didn't notice was the rusty nail sticking out of the pillar he had fallen against, now coated with blood.

After Heechul's little incident the filming continued and didn't end until dawn many hours later. By then the nine members were exhausted and just wanted to go home and sleep, but they still remembered to politely greet the staff before they left. As they were walking towards the van Heechul started to shiver and wrapped his arms around himself in an attempt to keep some warmth inside his body. At that moment Junyoung approached him.

“I saw you fell earlier, are you okay?” the leader asked, always caring for the other members.

“I'm alright,” Heechul replied automatically. “But why is it so damn cold?” he complained, voice trembling slightly because of his shivering body. Hearing those words made Junyoung frown in confusion since it wasn't really that cold, but he figured Heechul was just tired and didn't think anymore of it.

After the members had all gotten into the van they headed off towards the dorm. It was unusually quiet in the car on the way back; Minwoo and Siwan were sharing earphones while listening to music, most of the others had fallen asleep and despite still being awake not even the usually loud Heechul felt like talking or joking around at the time. Since there wasn't much you could do being stuck in a car for an hour the rapper tried to sleep, but he kept shivering and couldn't seem to relax. The throbbing pain from his arm that had been bothering him all day also didn't help. However, as he continued to watch the scenery that passed by outside the window the tiredness slowly crept in and eventually he dozed off.

A while later he woke up when someone shook him not so gently.

“Hyung, wake up, we're there now,” a deep voice next to him said, which he after a while realized belonged to Dongjun. Still not fully awake Heechul slowly opened his eyes and started to get up from his seat. He felt a bit dizzy and queasy, but considering they had been filming all day without much time to rest or eat he didn't find that very strange.

As he stepped out of the van his legs suddenly gave out and he fell helplessly onto the sidewalk. With a groan he turned over on his back and tried to get up but as soon as he lifted his head from the ground it felt like the whole world was spinning, so he lay down again and closed his eyes to keep himself from throwing up.

“Hyung, are you alright?” a concerned Hyungshik asked, who was just behind Heechul when he fell.

“Yeah... I'm not feeling so great.” The rapper kept his eyes closed and willed the nausea to go away. Meanwhile, the other members who had been on their way back to the dorm started to notice that something wasn't quite right and turned back one after another to gather around the man lying on the ground.

“Heechul-ah, what's wrong?” Junyoung asked with a worried voice and knelt down next to the younger man, who opened his eyes to look at the leader. Then he started to feel cold again and shook with shivers.

“It's cold,” he whimpered, sounding nothing like his usual loud and confident self. He wrapped his arms around himself again to get warmer but when his hand touched the upper part of his left arm a sharp pain shot through the whole arm and he winced in pain as he quickly pulled his hand away.

”Are you hurt somewhere?” Junyoung asked.

“My arm,” Heechul hissed through clenched teeth, being in too much pain to speak in longer sentences.

It hurt the others to see their fellow member in such pain and wished they could help him in some way, but they weren't sure of what to do. Stepping up to the plate as the responsible leader he was, Junyoung carefully examined Heechul's arm. He noticed a tear with a few dark stains around it on the upper part of the man's sleeve and without another thought he ripped the tear up even more to try to figure out why Heechul was hurting so bad. After doing so he was met with a rather awful sight.

On Heechul's left upper arm there was a small puncture wound. It wasn't very big but the area around it was really swollen and several red streaks led away from the wound, making it look quite bizarre. Siwan, who was next to Junyoung, also got a clear view of the injury and inhaled sharply in shock.

”Oh shit, that looks bad!” he exclaimed with a horrified expression on his face.

”You fool, why didn't you tell us you were hurt?” Junyoung scolded the younger man, but anyone who knew the leader could tell by the tone of his voice that he wasn't really angry, just concerned.

”We had to finish shooting the MV, didn't we?” Heechul tried to defend himself, but there was no strength left in his voice.

”Well, that's not more important than taking care of your injury, is it?!” Junyoung retorted, starting to sound slightly agitated. Heechul didn't bother to reply. He didn't have much energy left anyway and didn't want to waste the remainder on arguing. He felt so tired and could barely keep his eyes open anymore.

“I'll be okay, don't worry about me,” he mumbled, after which his eyes fell shut and his head dropped heavily onto the ground.

“Yah, Heechul-ah.” There was no reaction. “Jung Heechul!” Junyoung repeated louder and tapped Heechul's cheek gently, which he noticed was unusually cold, but still got no response. As a last resort he shook the younger man but Heechul just remained still.

“Hey, help me get him into the van,” Junyoung commanded with a sense of urgency and together the members lifted the unconscious man into the van. Since they were all worried they had forgotten all about being tired and got back into the van. Then they drove off towards the hospital.

When they arrived Heechul still hadn't regained consciousness, so they lifted him out of the van and onto Kevin's back, who carried him into the ER. There he was put on a hospital bed and two nurses quickly wheeled him away to be examined. Meanwhile the eight remaining members gathered in the waiting room, anxious to find out how Heechul was doing.

While they waited Junyoung remembered to call their manager, who had left the MV shoot early to tend to some important matter, and told him what happened. He promised to be right over and just 15 minutes later he came rushing into the waiting room of the ER.

“How is he?” the manager asked, looking just as worried as the eight members.

“We haven't heard anything yet,” Junyoung answered in a dull voice. The manager sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, feeling helpless. Then, as he looked at each of the younger men he saw how tired they were, having been filming all day almost nonstop and suffering from the constant lack of sleep idols had to live with. Worrying about Heechul on top of that had left them exhausted both physically and mentally and they had a hard time to even keep their eyes open, whereas Dongjun had already lost that fight and was sleeping with his head on Kevin's shoulder.

“You guys must be tired, why don't you go home and rest?” the manager suggested. “Junyoung and I can stay here until the doctor comes back, there's no need for all of you to hang around here.”

“No. We're not going until we find out how Heechul's doing,” Kwanghee firmly refused with a deep and determined voice, very much unlike the loud, high-pitched voice he usually spoke in. The others just nodded in agreement, because no matter how tired they were they still wanted to know if Heechul was okay before doing anything else. The manager realized it was pointless to argue any further and didn't say anything else on the matter.

After they had waited yet another while a doctor finally approached them. Kevin shook the maknae awake and then they all turned their attention towards the doctor to hear what he had to say.

“Is anyone of you the guardian of patient Jung Hee Chul?” the doctor asked, looking down on the paper in his hand as he read out the name.

“I'm his manager,” said man replied. “Please tell us how he is doing, doctor.”

“Well, some bacteria has entered his bloodstream through the wound on his arm, causing a whole-body inflammation commonly knows as blood poisoning,” the doctor started to explain but was interrupted by an array of shocked gasps from the group of younger men.

“Blood poisoning?! Can't you like die from that?” Minwoo exclaimed, eyes rounder than you would think was possible.

“Do not worry,” the doctor reassured them, “the patient's condition is not life-threatening. He did however seek medical attention a little late, so he will need to stay in hospital for a week or so to receive treatment and also to keep him under observation in case his condition worsens.”

“He could get worse?” Kevin asked, still worried.

“Well, the patient's condition is not that severe, so it is mostly a precaution. As long as he completes his treatment he should be fine.”

“So he'll be alright? Can we go and see him?” Hyungshik asked eagerly.

“Well, as long as you make sure not to disturb him. He is in room 304,” the doctor finished and flashed a friendly smile.

“Thank you so much, doctor,” the manager said with a bow. Then he turned towards the eight younger men. “You guys go ahead and see Heechul. I'll be up in a while, I just need to have another word with the doctor.” The ZE:A members nodded before hurrying off towards the elevator.

After searching for a while they finally found the right room. When they entered it everyone's attention was drawn to the bed, where Heechul lay sleeping. He had an IV connected to his arm and a bandage around his wound but apart from that he looked quite normal, just a bit more pale than usual.

The eight members wanted to wait until Heechul woke up, so they sat down wherever there was room. Since the small room was very crowded with nine people in it some of them ended up sitting on the floor, but after everything they had been through that day they couldn't care less. Siwan, one of those lucky enough to get a chair, was sitting next to the bed when he suddenly saw Heechul open his eyes.

“Guys, he's awake!” he notified the others and just a moment later they had all gathered around the bed.

“How are you feeling, buddy?” Kevin asked.

“What happened?” Heechul looked around the room confused.

“You passed out, so we brought you to the hospital. And you should be glad we did too, otherwise you could have been in big trouble.”

“Why?”

“Because you've got blood poisoning, man! Do you know how serious that is?” All of the built up anxiety and exhaustion was finally getting to Kevin and he couldn't help lashing out a little bit.

“Oh,” was all Heechul could say in reply.

“Come on Kevin, don't scare him,” Junyoung protested before turning back towards Heechul. ”It's not as bad as he makes it sound. You'll have to stay in hospital for a while but you'll be alright. So don't you worry too much, okay?” Heechul just nodded as a reply. ”You should have told us though,” Junyoung continued. ”Work might be important but you have to take care of yourself too.

”I'm sorry,” Heechul said, a genuinely apologetic expression on his face.

”Don't be sorry, just don't do it again. And that goes for all of you,” Junyoung addressed the other members. ”You're no good to anyone if you get sick and end up in hospital, so make sure you take care of yourselves and each other.”

”Yeah, let's remember that,” Minwoo said cheerfully. ”Let's all stay healthy and make sure this doesn't happen again.”

A/N: Whaaat, two fics posted in two days, I'm on a roll! :P Well, I didn't exactly write this whole fic since yesterday, I'm not that fast, but I'm just glad I managed to finish it at last.

I originally got the idea to write this fic from a dream I had one night, I don't really know what it was all about but I remember something about Heechul hurting his arm on a nail. I also got some inspiration from Ronin Pop and this is what I finally ended up with, I hope it was worth reading :)
