Hey everyone...I know it's been forever since I posted on here but I do try and pop on over and follow as much as possible. I'm definitely more active in FaceBook world so if you want me to add you over there just let me know...
anyway, reason for the post is to update you all on little boy...my nephew Patrick.
About 2 weeks ago, P started complaining about a "boo boo in my head" to Becca. This was usually followed by projectile vomiting. Becca brought him to the doctor on Friday and the doctor said that it was possibly the flu but that he checked out fine. Hurricane Irene came and went and so did the power...and all of the food P was eating as he was still throwing up. On Tuesday, Becca went to the house to check on the power and P threw up again. She called the doctor who said to bring him down. 5 minutes later she got a call saying to bring him to the ER. This set in motion the whirlwind that was last week. P had a "quick MRI" that showed an abnormality. He was quickly seen by the head of pediatric neurosurgery at Yale and was scheduled for surgery Wednesday morning and he was admitted to the PICU. The next 24 hours were 48 hours long seriously...an 8 hour brain surgery and 2 MRI's later to find that my little bug had 3 malignant brain tumors. He has what is called a Medullablastoma, brain cancer.
The doctors are encouraged with his progress thus far. I just got a text from Bec that said he woke up from his nap, turned to her and said "hi mommy"...the first time he's put 2 words together since surgery. He's lost all of his speech, movement on his right side and has a long road to recovery ahead of him. To say that this has been a trying time for all of us is an understatement. We are all going day by day to keep it together if only for Becca and Bug.
Well that got long...and believe me...not as long as it could have been. Long story short, please keep Rebecca, Ron and Patrick in your prayers. A sorority sister of Becca's has set up ribbon" site to give donations to the family if you are so inclined. The website is
Pat Pat Raymond Fund Right now we need many many prayers and good thoughts coming our way that's the most important thing.
