You and your co-worker's family have my sincerest condolences. One of my co-workers lost her sister a few years ago. She had mental disabilities, but always greeted people with a smile and kind word. Everyone in the Clerk's office knew her-her death was a surprise to us all and a reminder to live life to the fullest.
There is far too much darkness in the world today. If each person were to take one moment to ask someone else how they are or compliment them (honestly), think of the cumulative difference that each act would make.
There would be less people on the anti-depressants that's for sure. It doesn't take as much as we realize to make us happy. To stop and smell the roses is what we all need to do at times.
Even though I have tenure, I still worry about my future at my school, especially with the turnover in the administration. I know worrying does nothing but harm. I woke up today with knots in my stomach. But reading your post made me feel better. I too just learned of someone's death. Maybe that has added to my recent feelings. Be thankful and grateful for what you have, and don't dwell on what you don't have.
Wow! I am really glad to hear from you! It seems I haven't talked with you for ages! I hope you will not try to let your job situation put you under any undue stress. Schools are going through so many changes these days, none of us know whether we'll be there or not the next year. I'm glad my post has helped you. We are living in very tough and stressful times when the things we once believed would always be there for us are crumbling right in front of our eyes. It takes situations such as this to realize how fortunate we are and to be happy with each day that God has given to us.

Hiring someone because they are "younger" is a travesty.
*sighs*
My sincere condolences.
