I wouldn't say it's a bad thing :) If you ask me, crack pairings and unexpected pairings are far more fun to pull off than settling for what is nearly canon.

I enjoyed writing that bit ^_^ It's got a pretty dark implication, if you squint. And yeah...I had the explanation for 'Bone of Contention' done from the very beginning, so I was very happy and excited when I finally got to work it in!!

I suppose that with unusual pairings, you have to give a lot of thought to how to pull it off and convince your readers :D
