I have a theory that Mac owners tend to buy Hondas. The cars are somewhat equivalent. They look good, but not overtly sexy. They have their parts exactly where you expect them to be. They're easy to drive, and fast and peppy, but by no means monster cars. And, most correlatively, they rarely break down.
As a matter of fact, most of my coworkers drive either Hondas or VWs.
I'm a fan of the VW styling, marketing, and all (hell, our last car was a Golf), but the mounting engine and electrical problems are just too much of a pain in the ass to make it worth it.
The Civic is (according to most reports) a distant stranger to a repair shop, drives well, gets fantastic mileage, and the cockpit is downright gorgeous, with lots of thoughtful touches. And you definitely get a lot of 'high-end' touches on the base models.

We've put a whopping 65 miles on it so far, so we haven't seen a lot from it just yet, but we both really like it, and Danielle says it's great driving to work in. It's mainly just nice to know that we've got a new car from a company known for their reliability, with a good warranty. Our Mazda and VW both put us through thousands of dollars in repairs.
And the gas mileage seems to be amazing. Always a plus.

I can see the correlation.

Nothing but electrical problems and tuning jackassery for as long as I owned it. It was cute, and nothing else.
