Well its the flash's gonna be that costly...mine Nikon Flagship flash, SB800 is about RM1600 too

So a remedy is to buy those manual flashes(less than RM100) and a little work...you'll need tweak with your camera settings to compensate the lack of automatic control of that flash unit.

Do you own a manual flash? What brand of manual flashes do you recommend? I'll also have to find one that is compatible with my anak Glompus XDXD

The manual/auto but not ttl flash have only a single contact which could be used on any camera.
Don't buy those multi studs unless its based on your camera...different camera have different contact layouts
