Title: On Display
::Diamond, 137 words::
A girl is a diamond, plucked from deep, deep in the ground
covered in mud, so that no one knows how bright the diamond is
besides the diamond herself.
But a woman
a woman is a diamond that glows from the outside in,
for she has passed through the hands
of the world’s many refiners.
Because the diamond is strong.
She is harder than steel and endures
every knife and blade
so that the universe can look upon her and see
just how beautiful, how perfect she can be.
So she allows them all
to shear and slice and slash at every little flaw, each tiny imperfection
until they are satisfied.
But rarely are they finished.
Rarely can they bring themselves to stop
cutting and cutting and cutting
at the shining diamond
until there’s absolutely
nothing
left.

A/N: I am not a poet. I just don't do poetry. I like reading it, but otherwise poetry and I are merely acquaintances. I thought of this in the shower, and time was running out for today's drabble, so I'm going to classify this is as a drabble haha. For
this challenge. Thank you for reading.
