I'd be willing to pay about $4. That's close to what I pay now, actually. I think the organic, vegetarian-fed, free range eggs I get are like $3.69. They're not local or multicolored.
And you know, I should add that I wish my eggs were fresher. I'd be willing to pay more for that perk, too. Fresh egg whites whip up into meringue easier and I think fresh eggs make better omelets and scrambles and are just better in recipes.
Could not tell you. I never buy eggs so I really have no idea. The only time I eat them is when I go out for breakfast. The last time I did buy eggs I asked soniclibra how long I should boil them to make hard boiled eggs. She told me to boil them for an hour, they did not turn out very well. :(
i never understood why non-white eggs fetch a higher price. my guess is that we're conditioned to think brown = organic/humane/free-range.
i haven't bought eggs in ages, but over here eggs from non-battery hens tend to go for at least a pound (approx. $2 US) per half dozen. i'd say $3.50-4.00/dozen for the eggs you're providing is perfectly acceptable.
i totally want my own little flock of hens when i have the means to raise them :D
I went to the store and here they are $4 for BROWN eggs, and $5 for 'naturally nested' I don't even know what the small natural food store charges. It used to be double what the regular store had, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around $10 a dozen for eggs!
