It began when both of them were slowly walking home from school. The setting sun and its glowing rays were bursting with colors and the soft breeze gently touched their faces.
Sungmin can tell that Kyuhyun is in a bad mood. He hasn't spoken a word since they had left school. It is very unusual of Kyuhyun to act like this, Sungmin thought. And it bothers him a lot.
"Hey," Sungmin finally breaks the silence.
They are now walking around the old playground where a few kids were still playing, laughing among themselves.
Kyuhyun just took a glance at Sungmin and said nothing.
"Kyu, did I do something wrong?" Sungmin asked worriedly. But he still recieved no answer from the younger.
"Is it about the University again?"
Kyuhyun sighed heavily and sat on the swing.
"I thought I already talked to you about it. It's not like we won't see each other anymore, I'll still come back here on vacations," Sungmin said as he gently rocked Kyuhyun on the swing.
"But it won't be the same. You'll be far away," Kyuhyun answered finally.
"Kyuhyun, don't be like this. You're only making it harder for me to leave."
Kyuhyun didn't answer. He knew his hyung is right. But he's just too selfish. He is really attached to Sungmin ever since they were in grade school. The older had always been there for him. He was like big brother to Kyuhyun. They had played, studied, ate together and shared secrets. Kyuhyun then started to develop feelings for Sungmin. But he just kept it to himself because as long as Sungmin stays by his side, he is happy and contented. Not until Sungmin told him he would attend college abroad that Kyuhyun felt really scared. He doesn't know what to do without the other.
"Will you really miss me that much?" Sungmin asked suddenly.
Kyuhyun's heart began to beat fast. He didn't know how to answer. Tears started flowing down his cheeks.
"Kyu? Yah, stop crying.." Sungmin bent down and started wiping Kyuhyun's tears with his handkerchief. Looking at Sungmin's worried face, Kyuhyun can't seem to stop crying. He will miss Sungmin. He will miss him so much.
"I'm sorry. I'm behaving so childishly again," Kyuhyun said apologetically. "I think I need to go home now hyung."
Kyuhyun stood up hurriedly but to his surprise, Sungmin grabbed his wrist and pulled him into a bone-crushing hug. Kyuhyun's eyes widened. He couldn't move as Sungmin tightened his embrace.
"Sungmin w-what-"
"I love you." Sungmin whispered in his ear. "I've loved you for a very long time now but I was too scared to tell you my feelings. I love you so much Cho Kyuhyun. I do. Promise me you won't forget me even if I'm already away."
Kyuhyun wanted to speak, but he could find no words. He couldn't believe what he just heard. His heart seemed to stop beating at what Sungmin told him. He loves him too. He loves him with all his heart. All this time Sungmin felt the same. Happiness was breaking over him like a wave.
When they pull apart, Sungmin cups Kyuhyun's tear-strained face and looks into his eyes.
"Kyu, don't cry. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to trouble you with what I've said. I'm really sorry. You don't have to return my feelings if you don't feel the same way. And. And I'm still the same hyung to my dongsaeng."
Kyuhyun wiped his tears and chuckled lightly.
"Yah, hyung don't take back what you said," he said and pulled Sungmin for a kiss.
Sungmin was startled but he promptly returned the kiss, wrapping his arms around the younger's neck while Kyuhyun slowly caressed the Sungmin's hair with his hand.
"I love you too, Lee Sungmin."
