the last town
"In einer Zukunft, die nicht so weit (von uns) ist."
for firefly. pg, 350 words.

I. I wrote you a letter but I never sent it out (so please forgive me). I still dial your number without thinking, late at night, but I never press the call button.

It’s not like you’ll ever get them, my undialled calls and my unsent letters. They were meant to you, but not for you to read.

For my thoughts are mine and mine alone, and no matter how important you are; no matter how much of my soul I may have allotted to you, there are some things that you were never meant to see.

II. There is life Before You and After You and each of them feel eons apart.

There are things I would have wanted to say and things that I will say, some day, when After You turns into Before You and Before You turns into After You, once again. And maybe (just maybe) we can start, once again.

But until then I will cross my fingers; cross my heart and hope to die, until that day comes (once again).

And from there,
...I’m sure we can just figure everything out along the way.

III. When I will see you again, sometimes I imagine that you might not remember me. Other times I imagine that you might run away from me.

But both of those are okay. Both of those are okay, because no matter what I will continue to follow you, and never let you go.

People need their space so I guess that doesn’t make me people (because I never want to be far away from you

ever

again.)

And so I will find my way, on this path and in this life, to wherever (I think) you are. To wherever (I think) you may be.

It will be a long trip. But I’ve packed well, and I’ve learned to travel in silence.

IV. I’m saving up all my words for the day that we meet once again. But you, you stand higher than any other skyscraper in the world, and I’m not sure if they can travel that far.

V. So please, find this.
