miniature post! again! :D

HEY! By now most of you know I'm into painting tiny miniatures. I've been wanting to make a post about it recently (and did, though I never really finished it and the draft got eaten somehow) and put it off, but now that I got another shipment of SHINIES and fixed them up a bit I wanted to show them off.

Let's see. I've grown to like the hoard'o'bits store on ebay a lot (they ship nice Reaper miniatures here for pretty cheap) and I got six new girls to add to my collection. I cleaned them of metal dust, filed them up with a broken nailfile, stuck some arms and legs together and primed them.

Don't be alarmed -- they all have names given to them by the company, not me. I'm not that nerdy. REALLY, no reason to be ALARMED. Vandora the Pirate! I've been looking up pirate images to decide a color scheme for her. She looks like she'll be incredible fun to paint.

Shaeress... probably named after Sharess? A Forgotten Realms dark elf goddess, or something, iirc. This girl is incredibly pretty, though has that odd gauntness to her face that most elf miniatures seem to have--that makes them kinda ugly if you paint them too dark. But then how do you paint a dark elf?!

An "Ice Queen", no name. She's got elf ears too (I wish she didn't)... She'll be so much fun to paint, though a PITA, I know it. I could paint her up to be like oglaf's Snow Queen (nsfw). :D

Jolie, the librarian. God damn. Just because of the name I have the most amazing urge to paint humongous lips on her and slap like three or four children of various races around her.

Pharess, a fire sorceress. This miniature is so detailed and thus so intimidating that I can't think of anything to do with it right now...!

Tiviel! A Hellborn, demonlike... girl. She's got horns and a tail! I was so excited to get right to painting something fun I got right into it. Let's see how red skin turns out. ;)

A Bretonnian damsel from Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy line. She was the first metal miniature I wanted to try painting, and during priming I slapped just so much white spray primer on her that after I was done, you could hardly see her face... like those over-made-up girls, you know? D: Though, I managed to strip off the paint (after like a year?) by dunking her in acetone. Stripped the paint right off in ... three days of soaking or so. She's damaged, though, and not that great quality in comparison to Reaper miniatures generally. I'm not too psyched about her, but it was like a surgery... so it could make some sort of success story.

And now for something painted and finished up!

My beautiful baby, Kristianna the Mother Superior. She also had a little squire that came with her, but I haven't painted him yet. :E Like Alaine she's standing on a real stone I grabbed from the yard. I can't take a picture good enough to do her justice, really. She's amazing, aaaaaaa. I love her to bits.

Her back's really not that fancy (I was so bored by the time I got to detailing her back). But I'm pretty fond of how the shading on the cloth turned out--animelike shading, layers. It seems to fit. I should do that more.

Just in case anyone wants to compare sizes... that's my thumb, and she's about 2.5cm big. :D Ahaha. God, what crazy hobbies I find myself. also note cat scratches. fucking hell

My beautiful girls, all lined up. They should keep me busy for months! ♥

So that's all for the miniature update. I'll get back to painting Tiviel. :3 The orange juice I was drinking that's in the pictures . . . is almost over. See, it's like a hourglass. That means I'm running out of time here!

tl;dr THIS IS SO MUCH MORE FUN THAN IT LOOKS. SERIOUSLY. GET INTO IT!
