I love all those links to different face makers, but how do you go about turning them into icons?

Well, first of all, once you've got the face you want, you press the print screen button at the top of your keyboard. Then go into your image editing program and paste the picture in there (Ctrl+V). The screenshot should pop up in there. Crop it, resize it and mess around with it and viola. Icon!
