So, I have this friend. Not a close friend, just someone I see out and about quite a bit. We sit and chat and smoke, which puts us out on the street, because you can't smoke indoors, in our state

there's a guy I see at festivals and conventions who does an absolutely fantastic Captain Sparrow, complete with "real" and "undead in moonlight" versions, who seems to positively lap up the double takes and "you look exactly like"s, but he's *actively seeking it out* - I've seen him out of costume and the resemblance is there, but he's no doppelgänger. It must be so very odd for your friend who *isn't* seeking it out.

Yes, I agree, that's different, very much so. My friend doesn't look like a character, though. He just kinda looks like Depp on Depp's day off, in one of those paparazzi candid shots, only without the stupid beret. This being Seattle, where people often reflexively ignore actual celebrities, who are actively seeking attention (ref Lady Gaga Fail!), I wonder how many ppl pass my friend, thinking "hey, Johnny Depp," but don't say anything. Probably more than do.
