I've received mostly very nice remarks from people, but those guys were... special <.<

My friends were surprised that I actually went to confront those guys because I usually keep to myself.

Sometimes, I guess you'd just have to let people know that it's not an acceptable behavior.

I think the rule (unofficial, or official, I'm not sure which) is that in a public place, photographers are allowed to photograph people unless and until the person being photographed asks not to be photographed. So if that guy was a professional, when you told him he was being rude he should have said "if you don't want to be photographed I'll stop." No way should he have argued with you. And his whole line about photographing you because he thought you looked "sharp", I would have asked him if he photographs people who look sharp in t-shirts and jeans too, or just girls in unusual dresses ( ... )

I felt like those guys were just taking picture of someone they think is dressing stupid. Even when he said that he thought I looked nice, he seemed very insincere and condescending.

Looking back, I wish I had pulled out my phone to take pictures of them. After all, they were samples of humanity's failures and I would have been allowed to do so because it's a public place.

What amazed me, though... I was only wearing classic. It wasn't even OTT sweet or anything. It was just a cream floral OP with a chiffon blouse underneath. I also had my hair up in a loose bun because it was a hot day.
