[Character Name] Vivi Orunitia
[Canon] Final Fantasy IX
[Age] 9
[Gender] Male
[Personality] Vivi is a very shy little mage who feels as if he doesn't belong. He doesn't speak up and he stutters sometimes when he does muster up something to say. He's also quite a klutz, often tripping over his own feet. Because of his meekness, Vivi is easily overpowered by most people because he chooses not to defend himself despite being quite powerful. Most of the time, he quietly occupies himself by examining the world. Since he spent most his life with Quan, Vivi hasn't experienced or learned many things (especially women).
Because Vivi's been alone for so long, he really does not know how to act in a social situation. At first his two main reactions are to either run away or agree totally with the other is saying. Vivi tries to emulate others, mostly Zidane, in his attempts to be accepted. But as the story progresses, Vivi learns he doesn't have to try to be anybody. It takes some time, and a hell of a lot of self-discovery, but Vivi is slowly learning what kind of person he truly is. He isn't the incredibly shy loner he was in the beginning, and neither is he the completely dependent follower he was later on.
Vivi tries to find a healthy middle between the two. There's still that sense of independence, but he knows he can depend on others, and that is a great strength for him.
One of Vivi's biggest flaws is his fear. He blames his cowardice for putting his friends (such as Garnet in the Evil Forest) in danger. He knows he has a problem with his fear, but he reacts so instinctively by fear, like casting magic on the guards chasing him. But as the journey progresses, Vivi is better able to handle his fear. There are still things that frighten and depress him, such as his own past, but he learns and tries to not let it overwhelm him.
Though seemingly young, Vivi already has a good grasp on the fact the he's different from most people. Yet, this hasn't made him angry or bitter. In fact, Vivi is a very kind individual. He's polite and sweet, and, once one gets past his timid countenance, friendly. Unfortunately, as he figures out that he certainly is not alone, he begins to realize how similar he is to the short-lived dolls in Quieen Brahne's command. These similarities cause him deep grief. Even though he is struggling with this burden, he doesn't outright let his friends know of it. He tries to deal with his problems alone because he truly doesn't want to worry his friends.
That isn't to say Vivi isn't capable of hate or anger; he is, very much so in regards to his feelings about Kuja and Queen Brahne. But after Brahne's death, Vivi starts to understand the true concept of death. He still is angry, but he does understand Garnet's loss and puts that above his own anger.
Beneath it all, Vivi has a strong will. He doesn't turn from the truth, but pursues it, even if it may be a grim discovery. And in this will to uncover, to find, to live, Vivi reveals an admirable strength. He has a strong desire to live and hope, despite the fact that all the other Black Mages discarded their hope some time ago.
To put it in a simple way, Vivi is like a cute little dork with a will made of steel. He stammers and trips (and plays card games ohgod), and is painfully shy. He's often afraid, but is willing to carry on if he must. Though seemingly naive, he is quite insightful about himself and others.
[Specialties/Abilities] He's skilled in Black Magic. When in trance, he can double cast two spells.
[Affection] Vivi's really, really shy. It may take him a while to warm up to someone, but he can be quite huggable if one becomes friends with him. Don't even get into anything above hugs. Clueless mage is clueless about girls or love in general.
[Fighting] Vivi isn't one to be riled into a fight. He's pretty submissive for the most part, but when push comes to shove, he isn't afraid to kick some ass. But honestly? Would you really hurt someone this cute?
