Dorcas Meadowes was undeniably reckless. Sometimes Remus wondered if she was completely fearless. She was a small woman, not even five foot, and he could have snapped her like a twig. She always teased him about being so gentle, but he couldn’t help it.
She fought with everyone else, and she could hurl hexes with Alice and Sirius like mad, but her strength was in strategy. Sometimes he wondered how she could be so perfectly knowledgeable when it came to war, but in life she could seem so stupid. He warned her off of him multiple times, tried to scare her away, but she wouldn’t give up.
So, he slowly let himself relax, and it was months later, when he was sitting in an Order meeting, a hand mindlessly tangled in her hair as Benjy talked, that he realized he was in too deep. He stared out the window at the storm and sighed. While a storm was going on outside and the war was ripping the wizarding world apart, for the moment, at least in here, even among talk of the war, he could keep her somewhat safe, and apparently, he could fall in too deep.
