You should work on your core strength. A pretty simple way to strengthen yourself, especially your back, is to get into a good pushup position. But then rest on your forearms. Make sense to you?

Instead of resting on your hands, you're elbows are touching the floor and so are your forearms. I usually make fists out of my hands and act like I'm holding onto handles sticking straight out of the ground.

Hold yourself in that position for 5 minutes.

I do need to work on my core strength. It used to be pretty good, but apartment living for a year just plain killed it.

That's a good exercise. Once I get my basement set up, I want to get a piece-of-equipment-whose-name-eludes-me so that I can do reverse situps...you know, you hang over the edge, then use your back muscles to pull yourself up. I am probably not describing it properly.
