Happiness is...

Spent much of yesterday evening and part of tonight "designing" HP costumes--dress robes, Quidditch robes, and one set of generic school robes.  And possibly a set of pyjamas.    o.O   Some of them actually came out looking quite lovely and semi-professional, which is odd considering I haven't had an art class since kindergarten.  Literally.  I've ( Read more... )

Poor Eloise. She really gets the worst of it.

Um, I suck at wine, probably even more than you do. Sorry.

House-warming . . . Um, something practical. Like, a bazillioan rolls of paper towels or something. I don't know. I suppose it depends on when they actually moved in. Just not some knick-knack that's gonna gather dust, ok?

Lizzie-kitty! Hi, Lizard.

She moved in last weekend (when I was in Vegas and therefore conveniently inconveniently unavailable to help. ;-) *is lazy sod*

And Lizzie just came in and starting meowing again, but I'm pretty sure I caught a "hey, Auntie Sprouts!" in there somewhere. ;-)

Good question... and I have no idea whatsoever. I'll try to remember to ask her the next time I see her.

well i assume

she's either with the 126 (ft worth)

or the 127 (dallas)

but i know dallas people who drive into ft worth for work witht he 126

if she's with the 127 i probably know her and if she's 126 i've probably worked with her at some point.

I would assume the 126, then, but I don't know if she's done much work lately b/c she just moved her from out of state a few months ago.

I'll ask her when I see her. I'll see her daughter tomorrow, too. She may know.

Try a nice red, a little spicy, good for a warm summer night like Las Rocas, Garnacha 2003. Something Spanish or Italian, $12 to $15 sounds about right.

Our cat Victoria does the same thing, see me, pay attention to me, don't touch me!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll see what I can find.

(And yes, as near as I can tell that's what Lizard wants. She just wants some attention. Cats aren't happy unless life is revolving around them.) :-)

If it's not too late, I've seen several cool labels of late, some at Alberstons, some at Cosco(no membership needed at the liquor store), some at Majestics.

Bud has liked Red Truck, Red Bicylclette, and this Australian wine with a penguin on the label.

Excellent! Thanks for the suggestions! There is an Albertson's very near my house, so I will check there.

...a penguin on the label sounds like way too much fun. :-D

Ooo, I want Robes. That's the one thing I need to complete my costume. Darn Whimsic being so expensive.

As far as wines go, for a wine and cheese party you want a red wine to pair with cheeses and meats. A week or two ago, there was an amazing 2003 Chianti Classico at Vons for about 10 or 15 dollars. I love Chianti, and sometimes it even allows you the chance to pretend to be Hanibal Lector. As far as the wine goes, be sure it is Chianti Classico, not the other kinds. And 2003 was a very very good year for it.

My experience is vastly more limited on housewarming gifts, but if they like coffee, starbucks has some fun new things to check out. Or Ross. They have nice candles and shit for dirt cheap. Have fun!
