a kdrama post

Faith - continues to improve as of episode 5. I love how totally not epic this show is. I love that the writers are aware that this drama's greatest strength is its (plucky, adorable, tactless, and ultimately good-hearted) heroine, and I love that we're getting more awesome Eun-soo moments. I love how unselfless she is - because more often than not ( Read more... )

I agree with you on Answer 1997! I enjoy it quite a lot and I could see why it's getting so much praise but I get the feeling that it doesn't resonate with me as well as it does with other people. Shiwon is almost alienating in her extreme fangirlishness!

This is a great show with a wonderful mellow vibe, but I'm not compelled to watch the next episode. IA with Shi-won, but I think this is mostly because I was never an extreme, obsessed fangirl at that age. I never reached the point where I would run away because my dad ripped posters of my favorite boyband, or snub my best friend because she likes something I don't. I think Answer to 1997 is one of those dramas which would work much better if I had the same passions/interests/impulses Shi-won (or any of the other characters) has at that age. *shrugs*

Yeah, I would definitely love the drama a lot more if I could relate to Shi-won but I think that's precisely what's happening in Korea right...Seems like many people can relate to Shiwon and are reflecting fondly on that earlier generation of idols.

Oh and in regards to Damo...I haven't personally watched it but I heard a lot of good things about it (if you are ready for some major angst and heartbreak!)

I remember I attempted to watch it once but was turned off by the low or perhaps outdated quality of the filming. It's a personal pet-peeve of mine...Can't watch historical dramas if they look cheap *sigh*

I'm downloading a 720p torrent of Damo and the video quality is as crisp and clear as that of any 720p video (and not outdated at all). I've heard it ends badly (?) so I'm expecting the angst :)

Oh, I don't mean the quality of the video...I mean the quality of how it looks overall - the set, the costumes and even post-production editing. Basically if it doesn't look like Game of Thrones visually I can't enjoy the historical dramas as much...I am more lenient when it comes to modern dramas.

Oh. This is the first pre-2005 kdrama that I've downloaded so I'm not sure about the production quality. I do hope the story more than makes up for any shortcomings and the drama still holds up to 2010 standards.
