Episode 27 is, in many respects, a good episode: we finally get the chance to see Shunji in a more sympathetic light (again), Rie and Katsuyama get more character development in the space of a few scenes than Mok-dan during the entire show, smart villains...
All these things barely make up for the huge WTF that is Team Good. Seriously, it's like they all got high on happy pills and promptly forgot about important things, like security.
I mean, how on earth is Shunji able to waltz into the rebel base camp with practically the entire Jong-ro police force with Team Good none the wiser? The entire second half of the episode was just an exercise in plot-induced stupidity. Let me count the ways:
1. Mr. Song is almost caught by the police after leaving Angel Club, but fails to consider that his contacts might be compromised (which they were). He never mentions this to anyone.
2. Gaksital and co. attack the parade but are not puzzled at all by the lack of resistance. To be honest, I felt really sorry for the mustard-clad goons who did nothing but stand and pose with their guns, waiting to be stabbed.
3. Practically anyone can join their little rebel group just so long as that person looks like a Joseon person and quacks like a Joseon person. Ergo, they are infiltrated.
4. There are no guards, trip wires, or anything remotely resembling a security system surrounding the rebel base. Ergo,
I ask the writers: Why? Not only does this make the heroes look like a bunch of idiots, it also makes the villains - those very same villains who sent teenage girls to be sex slaves - more rootable. Why?
I wish there was some sort of cop out, that the rebels were actually aware that the police were upon them and the whole second half was purposefully misdirecting not only the bad guys but also the audience. That would be amazing, tbh. Please, drama gods, don't ruin this drama. It's the last week, for Chrissakes!
