Just one more stressor to this week of starting new classes...in the city where I'm already uncomfortable in a new program and all that jazz...Makes me want to hurl. Not gonna lie, I kind of assumed you were planning on going into teaching at the collegiate level with the whole American Studies PhD thing.

yeah, i am. I guess I should have phrased that as being the student in academia. I already miss teaching, the little experience I had doing it. I think that's what I mean more than anything.
Anyway, I feel much calmer now that I had my first class. Something about the comraderie of other students just helps. :)

I understand that completely. Being a student in graduate level academia is a dangerous thing, as all the faculty expect you to be on the up and up, yet no one ever keeps you apprised of the current and upcoming situations. I'd like to believe this isn't something shared at the faculty level.
