98 and hello

Nov 07, 2021 16:43

Hello dear friends. Today would have been my mother's 98th birthday. Happy birthday! I still miss her so much that at times it physically hurts. Although she would have disapproved, we went out and washed her and Dad's headstones and then I poured a libation of Jack Daniels over Dad's and a good tot of gin over Mother's. My sister and I will ( Read more... )

So good to hear from you. If I should be so lucky as to have my daughter emulate you and poor Jack on my grave. LOVE the remodel and I too have had an incredibly expensive summer doing nothing fun. Doesn't it figure that everything goes at once? Take care, and enjoy that vacation. I'm planning a return to Ireland next Spring come Hell or high water!

Hopefully it will work out. If things go according to plan and the US survives the pandemic I would love to have a Moot. I really, really miss everybody

OMG that does sound like one expensive, stressful summer! I had to deal with a leaking water heater and having it replaced last month and just that alone felt overwhelming lol. Glad you checked in with us. I'd wondered how you and Webster were doing. :)

Oh, it was so stressful. My sister had a leaking water heater ages ago and it flooded the garage so badly that the water backed up into the house, ruing the tile floors and the carpet. ACK! I really hope your leak wasn't that bad.

Thank you!

Ours wasn't as bad as that. We caught it early, but the water shut-off wouldn't work so we had to keep pouring out the buckets we'd put under the leaks every 40 minutes all night until someone could come out the next day to replace it. It was one long night!

Every forty minutes all night! I'm glad it didn't flood your house but oh, what a pain that must have been. Glad it's fixed now.

Argh all the pool woes! I know how much you value your pool though. Fingers crossed for a swift and reasonably priced resolution! Very impressed as always by your completing your Christmas posting. Amazing.

I do love that pool and really use it when it's warm enough, but dang, so many things going wrong. I didn't even mention the black algae and the green algae . . . At least that's taken care of.

Making sure the people I love have something to open on Christmas from me is so important to me, so yes, I kind of went overboard in getting things out early this year. But after my sister didn't get her gifts until after Christmas in 2019, before the pandemic goofed up the supply chain, has really made me over cautious. Besides, buying gifts makes me so happy!

That's two really well done bathrooms! Love the shower...

For living in such an arid environment, you sure have lots of water trouble...

Welcome back!

Oh my god, truer words were never spoken: both bathrooms and two problems with the pool. How?

I'm glad you like the new bathrooms. We are both very pleased with them, and as blue is my favorite color I feel very happy when I'm showering now.

Thank you!

That really was a seriously bogus summer equipment breakdown... and I hope that the future repairs go smoothly.

Beautiful remodels though.

What a pain in the ass all the breakdowns have been and it's scary that they've been happening in the same year. So glad you also like the remodeled bathrooms! I'm very happy with them. Thank you!
