"They should be back by now,” Leeteuk pointed out from his seat on the couch.
It had been roughly two hours since he had spoken to Yesung and he was now on the brink of worry and panic. Kibum had attempted to calm his hyung down by reminding him just how difficult it was to pry Eunhyuk out of the arcade, but it did little to assuage his worry.
Then the phone rang.
The leader moved to answer, but was stopped by Kangin, who was already rising to his feet. "I'll get it. I need a refill, anyway," he explained, holding up his now empty glass of soda.
The group watched their 'Appa' enter the kitchen, Heechul making cracks about spoiled ummas, and whipped appas, much to said Umma's frustration and everyone else's amusement. The joking continued until the sound of shattering glass silenced everything. They all ran into the kitchen to see Kangin, white as a sheet, leaning back against the wall for support, the phone held in a shaky grip.
Not knowing what else to do, they waited for Kangin to speak.
"Ye-yeah. We'll be right there. Don't worry, okay?" He hung up and simply continued to stare at nothing.
"What's wrong, Hyung?" Siwon wondered, almost afraid to know the answer if it had Kangin in such a state.
"Who was on the phone?" Kyuhyun asked slowly, realizing that something was seriously wrong.
Kangin didn't seem to look at them, but instead, through them. "That was Yesung Hyung. They're at the hospital."
Silence overtook the room as everyone stared in shock at the news.
"Are they alright?!” cried Kibum, scared for both his friend, and his lover. Sungmin, being next to the younger boy, took his hand and squeezed it in reassurance.
"What happened?" Ryeowook asked, surprisingly calm.
"I don't know the details, but Yesung Hyung was crying. Something about his arm. Eunhyuk-" Kangin closed his eyes, trying desperately to block out Yesung's broken voice.
"What?! What happened to him?!" Heechul demanded, disliking not knowing what was wrong with his dongsaeng.
Kangin's next words, spoken quietly, brought their world crashing down around them.

"I really don't wanna go back to Japan. Can we just call Manager Hyung and tell him that we quit?" Changmin whined from atop his comfortable pillow, otherwise known as Jaejoong.
"You know you don't mean that, Min," Yoochun laughed from his spot on the floor.
The youngest member stuck his tongue out. "Oh yeah? How do you know?"
"You're an attention whore," they chorused, making the boy huff in protest.
"Am not," he muttered, crossing his arms over his chest, making his hyungs laugh.
After a highly successful Japanese tour, their manager had allowed them a two week vacation, which they gratefully accepted, catching the next available flight back to Korea. They were all relaxing, just enjoying the feeling of not having to be Dong Bang Shin Ki for two weeks.
Then the phone rang.
Yunho, being closest to the phone, stood up from the couch that he had been sprawled across and answered. "Yeah?...Oh, hey, Hyung...Um, yeah, he's here. Hold on...Are you okay, Hyung?...Um, sure." Brows furrowing in confusion, Yunho handed the phone to Junsu. "It's Hankyung Hyung. He said he needed to speak to you."
Junsu pointed to himself. "Me?" Yunho nodded as he took the phone. "Hankyung Hyung?...Hey, whoa. Slow down, Hyung. You're slipping into Chinese... Okay, now what's wrong?" The group was caught off-guard when he suddenly went ramrod straight, eyes widening in shock. "What?! Is he okay?! What happened?!"
They all watched in shock as all of the color drained from the man's face and his legs could no longer support him. Yunho, thanks to his quick reflexes, stopped him from falling to the floor. The four onlookers grew even more worried when they saw tears build in their friend's eyes.
"W-where is he?...Yeah, I'll be there as soon as I can...Bye," he whispered as the call was ended.
Yunho took the phone from Junsu and handed it to Yoochun, who hung it up. "What happened, Su?"
"I-it's Hyukjae."
"Is he okay?" Jaejoong asked, he and Changmin rising to join the others
Junsu looked at them, sadness and disbelief clear in his eyes.
"He was raped."

Yesung was curled up across a few of the chairs in the almost completely deserted waiting room. His arm, which had been cleanly broken in two places, had been set and casted while his bruised ribs were tightly and securely wrapped. As he sat there, waiting for his extended family to arrive, his thoughts began to stray, drawing his mind away from the burning pain in his chest.
'It's my fault. Why did I let him leave? Why didn't I just refuse to go in the first place?! Why didn't I fight harder? Why, why, why?!' Unable to stop the oncoming tears, he buried his face in his knees and wept, each tear reminding him of his uselessness and inability to protect his friend from harm.
He was beginning to drown in his thoughts of guilt and despair when he felt a gentle hand on his shaking shoulder. The familiar touch brought more tears to his eyes.
"Kibummie," he whimpered, causing the younger man to pull his lover to his feet and wrap him in a tight hug. Though it was meant to comfort the man, the added pressure to his injuries made him cry out in pain. Pulling away quickly, the actor saw his arm and the bruises. He then slowly lifted up the older man's shirt, revealing the heavy binding.
"Sung, what happened to you?"
He swallowed. "Broken arm and bruised ribs," he replied quietly.
"Yesung, what happened?" Leeteuk asked gently, noticing the guilt and overwhelming sadness in his dongsaeng's eyes.
Yesung blinked, only just realizing that Kibum wasn't alone. Seeing the worried and anxious expressions on his bandmates' faces almost caused him to break down again, but he was able to regain control of his senses thanks to Kibum's comforting embrace.
He was about to reply when the door flew open, revealing Junsu, followed closely by Jaejoong, Changmin, Yoochun, and Yunho. Seeing their friends, the five ran over to them.
"Junsu," Yesung murmured when they reached them.
"Where is he?" Junsu asked frantically, looking around the waiting room.
"With the doctor," he answered, unable to meet the other's gaze.
Noticing, he carefully pulled Yesung into a hug. "How about you? You okay?"
Surprised, he stuttered, "I-I'm, uh, fine, I guess"
At that moment, Yesung caught a glimpse of a middle aged woman in a white coat walking toward them. Remembering that they were the only people in the waiting room, he realized, as his breath caught in his throat, that the woman must be his friend's doctor.
"Excuse me, but are any of you here for young Mr. Lee?"
"Um, yes. We all are," Hankyung answered. The others noticed him willing himself to speak in Korean and not Chinese, and not allow his panicked mind to confuse the two.
She nodded. "Then please, take a seat." They did as she requested. "I would like to start by saying that your friend can go home once we've finished here. We already filled out the paperwork. He's just getting dressed." There was a huge collective sigh from the two groups at the news.
"How is he?" Heechul asked, unable to hide his concern for his young friend.
The woman crossed her legs and opened the folder that she was carrying. "Well, physically, he's pretty bruised and he'll be sore for probably between a few days and a week, but he will completely heal." She closed the folder. "His mental state, however, is another story."
"What do you mean?" Yoochun asked slowly.
"I was not the original doctor that was assigned to your friend. I was called because I deal primarily with victims of sexual assault. I know how to act, but he would panic whenever any of the doctors would go near him. It's a common reaction, but I honestly don't know if he'll ever be fully comfortable with physical contact. Only time will tell."
Ryeowook swallowed the lump in his throat. "I-is there anything that we can do?"
She smiled sweetly at the boy. "There are a few things that you can do to not cause any sort of panic attacks or flashbacks, which I assure you, will happen quite frequently, along with nightmares."
"And what do we do?" Shindong asked.
"Always ask him before touching him. It sounds easy, but people often forget. Touching someone can even be unconscious. A hug or a head pat could do a lot of damage at this point, so just be careful, okay?" Everyone nodded. "Also, announce yourself if you enter a room he's in. Try not to catch him off-guard." She adjusted her glasses and looked at Yesung. "Were you the young man that came in with him?" He nodded. "There may be two ways that he'll act around you. He'll either be clingy, or he'll ignore you, but please, don't take the latter to heart."
"Why would he ignore me?"
"You were there. You saw him at his weakest. He also may blame himself for your injuries. Guilt plays a heavy role in a victim's mind, so just be prepared."
"Yes, Ma'am.”
“Does he have a girlfriend?”
“Boyfriend, actually,” Leeteuk replied.
“I see. One of you, perhaps?”
“No. He’s out of town. He’ll be back in a few hours,” Kangin explained.
“You may want to tell him about what happened and what he should expect.” Her kind gaze again fell on Yesung. “You also need to heal mentally. You cannot blame yourself for what happened.”
“But I was right there!! I should’ve-”
“There’s always ‘should'ves’ and ‘what ifs’. I can assure you that he’s feeling just as guilty as you are, maybe more.”
“But he didn’t do anything wrong!”
“You tried your hardest, Sung,” Kibum stated. “I mean, your arm’s broken! And your ribs!”
“Can we see him?” Junsu asked.
The doctor smiled, nodding. “Right this way.” The two groups followed her through the doors and down the hall until they reached a room about halfway down. “Now, he may be very drowsy. Not only did we give him something for the pain, but also a heavy sedative to calm him down.” Opening the door and looking in, she chuckled, drawing everyone’s attention.
There, curled up in the hospital bed, was Eunhyuk, fast asleep, or close to it. He appeared to be completely at peace, like the whole night had simply been a horrible nightmare. When the boy rolled over, however, they knew it was true.
White bandages were firmly wrapped around each wrist, but were unable to completely cover the still spreading bruises from their sight. The black and blue marks on his cheek and temple were, luckily, light. What brought everything home, however, was the deep bruising they saw on the boy’s hips as his too-big clothes shifted when he did.
Ryeowook simply stared at his hyung until suddenly, everything that had happened in the last few hours hit him all at once. Shindong, being closest to him, caught him as his legs gave out.
“Wookie, are you alright?!” the larger rapper asked, worried.
The boy in question turned wide, tear-filled eyes toward the doctor. “Can we really help him through this when we don’t even understand ourselves?!”
“I think so, precisely because you don’t know. You can’t tell him what to do, but you can listen to him and grieve with him.” She smiled. “It’s up to you to help him through this. I would hate to tell my daughters that their idols couldn’t perform as 13 anymore.”
Despite the situation, Kangin had to laugh. “So you knew who we were?”
She nodded. “All of you,” she replied, motioning to DBSK. “My daughters are your biggest fans. I may not know who’s who, but I’ve seen your faces a lot.” With another smile, she gently ran a hand through Ryeowook’s hair and left them alone.
Junsu, having simply stood there observing his friend, walked over to the bed and crouched down next to it. “C’mon. I know you’re up.” True to his statement, Eunhyuk’s eyes slowly opened. “I’m sure you’d rather sleep in your own bed, am I right?”
“Yeah,” he murmured as he slowly pulled himself into a sitting position. He hissed in discomfort before shifting a bit. “When can we leave?”
“Whenever you’re ready,” Yesung answered.
Looking up, Eunhyuk saw the damage done to the singer. Unable to meet his gaze, the rapper averted his eyes before asking, “Are you okay, Hyung? Your arm, I mean.”
“Two clean breaks. It’ll heal pretty quickly.” He smiled, thankful that the attack hadn’t changed his friend’s kind heart.
Nodding, Eunhyuk slowly turned to get to his feet. As he did, however, a sharp pain shot down his spine, causing him to stumble. Junsu, being the closest, moved to stop his fall.
“DON’T!”
Everyone in the room was surprised by the rapper’s sudden outburst, especially the rapper himself. He was leaning against the wall, his entire body tense. Taking a deep breath, he willed his body to relax. When he succeeded, he looked at his feet, a slight blush on his face.
“L-look. I’m sorry, but please, just don’t.”
Nodding, Junsu just smiled slightly and moved back a little, giving his best friend more room. “It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.” His smile grew when he saw the near-invisible smile on the boy’s lips as he nodded.
Leeteuk turned toward the other group. “If you want, feel free to crash at our dorm. It’s a bit closer.”
Jaejoong shook his head. “No. We’ll let you guys be together, but I think that Junsu should take you up on your offer.”
Junsu shot his hyung a grateful look before turning to the others. “How ‘bout we all get out of here? Hyukjae here looks about ready to fall asleep right here.”
“I feel like it, too.” Laughing, they all walked out of the room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When they arrived home, Eunhyuk was barely awake. Yawning heavily, he slowly followed the others to the elevator, limping slightly. Once they reached their dorm, they entered, and Junsu lead the boy right to his room.
“Do you wanna change?” he asked, taking a seat on Donghae’s bed.
He shook his head. “Too tired.”
Junsu chuckled. “Then go to bed, dummy.” He got up as Eunhyuk crawled under the covers. “Night, brat.” He was about to turn out the light when the boy’s drowsy voice stopped him.
“Nothing’ll ever be the same, will it?”
Hearing the sadness in his best friend’s voice drew the singer back. He knelt down next to the bed and looked him in the eyes. “Probably not, but I do know one thing.”
“What?”
“You’re not alone. We all want to help you, so just remember that we’re always here if you need us.” He smiled before rising to his feet. “Go to sleep. The rest’ll do you good.”
He turned out the light and was about to close the door when two words halted him, whispered so softly he almost thought he’d imagined them.
“Thank you.”
Still smiling, he closed the door and returned to the others, who were huddled together in the living room. He sat on the floor in between Ryeowook and Kyuhyun, placing an arm around Ryeowook.
“How is he?” the boy asked.
“Sleeping. It’ll take time, but I think he’ll be okay.” He then turned toward Yesung. “What happened last night, Hyung?”
Seeing everyone looking at him so expectantly made him nervous, but the larger hand entwined with his allowed him to tell all he knew.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“So I hit him with the pipe and called an ambulance and the police,” he finished.
Junsu and Kangin were both comforting Ryeowook and Leeteuk, who took the story the hardest, while Hankyung and Heechul were completely stunned at the events from earlier. Shindong had pulled Sungmin into a gentle hug, allowing him to cry into his shoulder. Siwon sat next to Kyuhyun, noticing what appeared to be guilt in the youngest member’s eyes.
“What’s wrong, Kyu?”
The boy looked right at Kibum, who wore a similar expression on his face. “How did we not see this coming? I mean-”
“I wish I knew.”
“Don’t blame yourselves,” Kangin stated. “You either, Yesung Hyung. No one could’ve expected this to happen.”
“We have another problem to deal with,” Leeteuk pointed out, whiping his eyes.
“What’s that, Hyung?” Siwon asked.
Ryeowook understood. “We have to tell Donghae what happened.”
Everyone went silent.
“I’ll do it,” Junsu offered. “When does he get back?”
Kibum checked his watch. “In about an hour and a half.”
He nodded. “I’ll go meet him at the airport then.”
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Kangin asked.
“Positive.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Donghae walked through the gate, searching for the familiar form of his boyfriend. Not seeing him, he was about to keep walking when his eyes landed on Junsu, who had also seen him. He then walked over to him.
“Hey Junsu. What’re you doing here? Where’s Hyukkie?”
All was silent until Junsu opened his mouth.
