“I want you to stay forever.”
I stifled a sigh. I took a quick peek to my left and couldn’t quite resist the temptation of rolling my eyes. There he was, knees drawn up against his chest, his bangs falling across his eyes, he was absolutely enraptured by the complete drivel on the television screen.
I sunk in my seat and scratched my head. I couldn’t believe I had been tricked into watching this rubbish. I looked back at the screen just in time to see the ‘all mainly hero’ sweep the ‘distressed but still delicate damsel’ off her feet for a passionate awe-inspiring kiss.
What a load of crock. I looked away in disgust.
I grumbled low in my throat and promptly received an elbow to the ribs for it. I groused at him but straightened from my slouch none-the-less. A hand found mine not a moment later. The grip was strong, the fingers long and supple. Those fingers have caressed every inch of my skin. I turned my palm over. These fingers can draw away tension one moment and reduce me to a quivering, vulnerable pile of goo the next. I laced our fingers together.
This is what I wanted. Not forever. To promise for forever is an empty promise. I just want a moment, just the one, when it is just us; the two of us, together as one.
