Pairing: Kibum/Donghae
Category: AU!Holiday Fluff!
Summary: Kibum planned on spending Christmas at home curled up with a good book and not worrying about gifts that people may or may not like because honestly he wasn’t going to buy anything for anyone.
Well that was his plan until Donghae brilliantly came into his life.
Dark eyelashes flitted open as sunlight spilled through small gaps. A long yawn was fought off as Donghae stared up at the ceiling as he began the journey of waking up. A heavy weight pinned his chest down that was both foreign and familiar at the same time. With a quick glance, Donghae immediately recognized Kibum’s unruly head of dark hair.
A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he watched the slow breaths moved Kibum’s body in a small rhythm. He suddenly thought of the way the two had met just months prior. For Donghae it had been his best idea ever, but for Kibum it was a different story. To make a long story short, Donghae purposely became clutzy so that he could knock over the steaming cup of hot coffee to gain the attention of the person he had been infatuated with. It took a lot of planning with some failed trials to make his most brilliant plan actually work.
“Welcome back….” Donghae murmured when he pulled himself away from the memory. He let his fingers dance across a bare shoulder blade in almost complete fascination. He really did love practically everything that made up his lover. It was kind of lame and clichéd, but he really didn’t care. That Kim Kibum kept this Lee Donghae completely sane most of the time.
Quietly extracting his body from Kibum as well as the bed, Donghae made his way out of the room. This Christmas day needed the sleeping business man completely rested for the day’s many adventures. The first adventure would have to be a solo mission that only Donghae could accomplish. He had to set everything up for a wonderful Christmas morning that also included a breakfast in bed.
All of this had to be done without waking up Kibum.
He thought he heard something crash and break, but the thought was quickly pushed away while curling even closer into the bed. Kibum at that moment only wanted sleep. Nothing could stop him from earning the sleep he wanted to catch up on. He was determined to sleep in on whatever day it was because work finally let him have a vacation.
Slowly he slipped back into the world of dreams and imagination where everything was perfect to him. No work to drain his energy away, nobody asking him to do anything because they were too busy getting ready to spend the holiday season with their families and loved ones. Kibum planned on spending Christmas at home curled up with a good book and not worrying about gifts that people may or may not like because honestly he wasn’t going to buy anything for anyone.
Well that was his plan until Donghae brilliantly came into his life.
“Kibummie~” Donghae’s familiar voice called out to him. Kibum cracked open one of his eyelids to see a brightly smiling Donghae standing in the doorway carrying a tray. His other eye opened up to get a better look at the tray. “I decided to make you breakfast, but the breakfast I wanted to make you didn’t really happen. I hope you like eggs and toast!”
“Donghae, you know you didn’t have to try and make me breakfast right?” Kibum asked as he sat up. He watched the other shuffle across the room carefully so that he didn’t trip over anything. A swift glance towards the clock gave Kibum the idea that yes it was almost noon. “We’re going to have to leave for Ryeowook and Kyuhyun’s here soon. You do know that right?” Donghae nodded his head as he set the tray down.
“Of course I know that! I was the one that had to convince you to join us. I’m going to go take a shower so you eat.” Donghae quickly left the room heading for the bathroom as Kibum shook his head with a small smile. Dark eyes looked down at the tray and suddenly became curious. The food wasn’t the thing that caught his attention. No, instead it was the nicely wrapped gift in blue wrapping paper.
This Christmas, Kibum found himself worrying about what he was going to give Donghae. Any other year he would have just let things slide like it always did. Presents never were the thing he put much thought into because he never gave them to anyone, but with Donghae, it was different. He not only wanted to give the best present to his lover, he also wanted to give one that would be cherished.
“You haven’t opened it yet?” Donghae’s voice asked breaking Kibum from his thoughts. A small shake of a head was given in answer causing the freshly cleaned one to move sit on the bed’s edge. “It’s a watch. I wasn’t sure if you’d like it because you never wear them anyways. If you don’t like it I understand and we can exchange it for something else.”
Kibum stared at the box before looking up to meet Donghae’s thoughtful gaze. Quickly, he moved in and brushed his lips against the corner of Donghae’s mouth before pulling back. The thoughtful gaze was briefly surprised before slipping into eyes that happily sparkled. A small smile played with the corner of Kibum’s mouth as he opened up his gift.
No words were spoken as Kibum studied the watch carefully until he took it out of the box.
“Watches are such obvious gifts to give people.” Kibum murmured as he held the device in his hand. He caught Donghae huffing at him in annoyance out of the corner of his eye. Dark smiling eyes were suddenly just there as Kibum leaned in closer. Unconsciously, Donghae moved back a little bit as he watched Kibum’s lips warily. He was sure if they were just there for show or if they’d lean in to kiss him. (He was secretly hoping for latter one.) “Thank you for the watch Donghae. I’ll wear it so I’m not late to any business meetings.”
“You’re actually going to use it?” Donghae asked as he gave the other a suspicious stare. Kibum nodded his head while he moved back to get into the bedside table. “But you don’t wear watches. Why would you wear the one I gave you?” Dark eyes glanced over, shutting him up instantly. Donghae knew that whenever Kibum gave him that dark, quiet look it was best to just shut up and let the other do whatever he wanted. It made things run a lot smoother usually.
“I have something for you.” Kibum said as he pulled away from the drawer that he was just getting into. Donghae perked up at the thought of a gift as he started to bounce a little bit in anticipation.
“You have a gift for me? Really? You never give me gifts!” Donghae blabbered out as he gave his most blinding smile in return. Kibum’s dark, quiet stare couldn’t stop his happiness from bubbling over. Quickly the small gift was handed over as Kibum grumbled under his breath about how Donghae made it sound like he didn’t care.
The moment Donghae had the gift ripped open, silence hung in the air heavily as wide eyes stared at the simple gift. Surprised lifted up to meet avoiding before staring back down into the box. A soft smile curved along Donghae’s lips as he lifted his gift out of the box.
“Kibum, it’s a key.” He simply stated as the other turned to give him a “yeah I know” look. “It’s a key!” Donghae exclaimed happily as he smiled at the little silver object.
“Do you even have an idea what it goes to?” Kibum asked slowly as Donghae grinned at his gift.
“Nope!” The simple one worded answer made Kibum chuckle as he leaned over to pluck the key from his hand. “What does it go to?”
“My apartment.” The answer made Donghae’s eyes widen a little bit as he returned to stare at the gift. “Will you live with me Donghae?”
Donghae tilted his head slightly as his eyes softened to match his playful smile. The two quietly stared at each other as a kiss was slowly taken. The brush of lips for a brief kiss was happily accepted before the smiling one leaned back to give his answer. “Of course I will.”
“Good.” Kibum simply said. He suddenly captured Donghae’s lips for a breath taking one. “We better get ready so that we’re on time to Ryeowook and Kyuhyun’s You know how they both hate it when someone is late.”
As the two got up to get ready to leave, a sudden thought came to mind. Kibum stopped in the doorway to take a look around Donghae’s little apartment. “Hey,” he called out making his lover look up while trying to pull on a pair of pants, “bring whatever you want from here. I want it to make the apartment as much yours as it is mine. Merry Christmas, Donghae.”
Only a full bright smile was given back to make the morning even better.
