Day 02 - Your Favourite Classic Series Episode
I'm sorry guys, I fail at this. I have never seen a Classic Who episode yet. *runs*

That non-answer would make for a short post, so I'm going to ramble about Series 6 and Christmas Special and some David, yes??? A post about David is NEVER BAD.

Christmas Special roundup at starwhales leaves me bouncing with laughter, guys. DUMBLEDORRRRRRRREEEE. And, more Rory in series 6 (not very spoilery, right?)! I love me lots of Rory. Really.

I FINALLY watched David doing Hamlet (managed to locate the entire thing on Youtube, finally!) ... AND MAAAAAAAAAN IT WAS GOOD. I was completely engrossed by it from the start ... but I admit, I got a little tired and bored nearing the end (i.e. where Hamlet was off in England and basically that meant no David for a couple of long scenes). I'll be honest okay, I like the occassional Shakespeare text, but I'm not a lofty intellectual who reads classic literature all the time. Hurts my brain a little. I love reading, but classic lit stumps me sometimes. For example, I had to slog through Jane Austen's Persuasion for a freshman lit module and I just couldn't stand the long sentences after a while. I now also dislike reading J.M.Coetzee. I confess, if it weren't for the fact that David was in this production of Hamlet, I might never have watched this. But isn't that good though, that a whole new group of audiences are exposed to really good literature this way? (I'm consoling myself here, yeah.)

Anyway, back to Hamlet. I had a copy of the text with me as I watch, so I was half-reading as I went along. OH IT WAS FANTASTIC. I didn't know the ending (hurrah) so I was like "LOL WHUT EVERYBODY DIES EXCEPT HORATIO? OH POOR HAMLET YEAH OOOH LOOK FENCING AND CRAZY SINGING LADIES". I think I sat for almost three hours at my desk watching it ... I don't even know exactly how long it is now. Shakespeare is a bit of a genius yeah, just as we saw in The Shakespeare Code although that was a bit funny and camp and whatnot. xD I liked reading Macbeth in freshman year, so yeah. Now I can say I like Hamlet too. David was AMAZING as Hamlet. Grief and anger and crazy and bonkers and all the mimicking of other people -- he just does everything SO WELL. Hamlet's soliloquy was done with such understatement and sadness, so brilliant. (Greatest Stage Actor of Our Generation FTW!) And I love the fact that it was a modern-dress version. That orange skeleton shirt tickles me to no end.

GUYS I LOVE THIS PRODUCTION OF HAMLET. SOMEONE GET ME THE DVD!
