I wish I could just do the rational thing. Keith loves me. My room mate just bailed on me, so we need a new room mate. Keith wants to move in. It would solve rent issues and make my life more stable. We've been dating for a long time. I'd be in a stable relationship, engaged by the end of summer, married by Fall. Married. Me. Hell, I'm at ( Read more... )

If you have to ask whether or not you're ready to get married on LiveJournal, odds are you are not yet mature enough to answer that question. Search your heart and if you need to evaluate a relationship based upon considering what other people would think. If you need to consider their opinions because they want to sleep with you, you haven't finished being single yet.

As to shacking up for rent... People do it all the time without getting married.

::laughs:: I think your first sentence is the most telling and true.

I just feel like I'm getting so old... that maybe I really should BECOME mature by doing mature things, not just continuing to date around. I feel so old....like I'll be left behind. I know it's not true, but I'm afraid. I'm sure everyone can relate on some level.

I don't think anyone wants to "sleep with me." I'm asexual. >_<;

... shacking up for rent would, in this case, require also being involved romantically 'cause we've dated for so long there's no way we could live together and be "just friends."

Thanks for your advice. Again, I think your first sentence rings really true with me....

Amen, brotha'. Going back and forth like you and Keith do is NOT healthy. Being so dependent on Keith that you freak out every day he's gone is NOT healthy. Being willing to cuddle Keith because its nice to get the attention while cuddling other guys is NOT healthy. And I'm starting to think this 'no sex' thing isn't healthy either ( ... )

All things aside, including what we've both said tonight, don't worry about anything from my end. After all it's like you said only moments ago. I'm leaving. So, I'm not sure what else to say but... congratulations.

You said twice in your post that Keith loves you.
You didn't even say once that you love him.
Now, I'm not saying that you don't love him; but if that emotion was not forefront enough to warrant inclusion in your equation, you might want to hold off awhile longer on getting married.

You're not old, you're not even close to old, and you're nowhere in the ballpark of life passing you by. I don't even wanna hear that from you.
That being said, getting engaged just because you think time is running out and you can't do any better is a really, really, really bad idea (trust me, I know; that's exactly what my ex-fiance did to meAnd I find it curious that you seem to be in such a hurry to get married. Did you change your mind about that "living life by the seat of your pants" lifestyle that you once spoke of? Because if marriage doesn't put a serious damper it, your first child is sure as hell going to bring it to a screeching halt ( ... )

The whole "fanboy" issue is difficult. Many of them are currently random, frightening, stalker-eque customers at Suncoast who call me at work and ask if I'm in the store alone. *shiver* I'm not really sure HOW to handle that except to tell my managers, which I do.

I treat everybody with warm smiles and hugs! ^_^*

Also - if you are really, TRULY afraid of these people hurting you - you need to take more serious actions than just talking to your manager ( ... )

"And a quick aside regarding your fanboy queue: do you ever just politely tell any of these people that they haven't got a snowball's chance in hell; or do you accept their presents and attention with warm smiles and hugs, leaving them floating in an ambiguous limbo of false hope?"

No. She's either too passive and lets them think they have a shot or leads them on because the attention is nice. It is nice, I've done it in the past, and been sorry for it later. But still, it leads to the problems she has now.

I attempted to post a really long, heartfelt response to this on your Myspace blog, but when I hit "post," the damn thing vanished. I hate when words of advice are erased due to computer glitches. >_That said, let me try repeating my sentiment ( ... )

See? Some people say, "No, follow your heart! Find your true love!" and some say "No! Stick with what you have since it's good!"

... what do *I* say? I don't know. I'm sort of floating around between the two of those options.

You have to know asking everyone's advice on a public forum is bogus. You'll always get conflicting advice. Asking us is just delaying a decision, because you're hoping for an answer that will make everyone happy. You've been floating around for a while now. Pick an option and go with it. Be with Keith or don't be.

You're like family to me, so no matter what decision you make, I'll support you.
