I remember the crazy gap between rich and poor in Rio de Janeiro. When you leave the airport, you drive for like 45 minutes past what looked like bombed out buildings. People living in houses that had no rooves. It loooked like a war had torn through the area and people were living in the remains. Then we crossed the river, and I was in the richest place I have ever seen. But of course, you could look back across the river and see where you had just come from.
