Miniminx is brilliant, and not just for the inspired tuba idea.

I'm glad to hear about Charlie Wilson's War. I had just ignored it. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were enough to scare me away from all the Philip Seymour Hoffman in the world. But if you say it's good, I'll give it a try when it comes to cable.

As for your reading habits, they terrify me. I don't really read about music scenes or musicians. I have always feared that knowing too much about the bands or artists I like would change the way I listen to their music. That I would spend more time judging them as people than just appreciating the songs I like. Then again, I cherish my own naivety. I like to keep my childhood rebels and heroes intact ;)

Mostly, it just makes me happy whenever you post. So now I'm all grinning and gleeful.

Miniminx also told me she wanted Chrissie (Hynde) to come to our house and sing, and that Chrissie could "bring her friends Jamie and Pete and Martin" with her. I didn't have the heart to tell her the first two were dead or, as miniminx says, "non-living".

"Charlie Wilson's War" was really good! You should take into account, though, that before that I hadn't seen a movie since July, when I saw "Living Hard, Dying Harder" or whatever the latest Bruce Willis was. So my standards might have gotten pretty low. But yeah, Phillip Seymour Hoffman is pretty much a genius and I think you'd really enjoy the character he plays.

I usually don't read about music for the very reasons you give, but I figured in this case I was far enough removed from British post-punk that I could risk it. Also, I read a fantastic book about Big Star a couple of years ago and it didn't alter my enjoyment of their music. I completely understand keeping the childhood rebels and heroes intact, though. rochefort's revelation via a biography she was reading about one ( ... )

I miss you too! I just don't seem to have much in common with my f-list these days, other than liking them a lot. Everyone's moved onto some TV show and I don't even watch TV!

Muchos abrazos a ti tambien, mi vida.
