The other week I was talking to a friend and she made a suggestion that actually made a bit of sense.
If worse comes to worse, and you can't get a job, which sucks really hard and I can relate because I still haven't gotten a phone call for an interview, there's always social assistance.
Social assistance is garunteed to every Canadian Citizen, regardless of location, age, race, bankruptcy, education, whatever. It's one of the undercurrent things that makes Canada, Canada. Hell, because of it, open poverty is supposed to be wiped out, it's just that the homeless people on the street won't go to social services.
But like, someone like you or me can go, and get social assistance until we find a job. It's not abusing the system at all, and you would be able to afford your half of the bills while you are in St. John's and you would be able to continue hunting for a job.
I'm actually seriously considering this, because like you, I really, REALLY don't want to have to move home. I just can't move home.
