Photographic Duties

Ouches. Was on my feet taking pics from around 7pm to just before 10pm yesterday. My right hand cramped up a bit, since I held the camera so firmly. I was helping out documenting the "Summer in the city" event that Umeå C was arranging. A free for all event in the middle of Umeå basically, where local and a more famous band/artist(s) perform on stage. Yesterday BWO (whose name origin is quite interesting, Bodies Without Organs is a term introduced by Gilles Deleuze ) was the main attraction that was also last on stage. And just before they played, it started getting highly tricky getting around in the sea of people that rushed closer to the stage. vk.se reported the evening had been calm, but no wonder perhaps with so many kids being hoisted up to sit on the shoulders of a parent, so it does seem like it appealed to many families with kids. There were also many smaller kids around, wearing sensible protection against the high noise too (and I guess those standing on a distance did wise in that if they didn't have any special protection for their kids to wear, since it was quite loud, which also added to people being spread out). There will be two more events, one on the 23rd of July and one on the 1st of August.

So in short, I might need to start weightlifting to be able to handle my camera better :P
I think there's at least 20 really good shots in there (and that's of about 600 shots I have yet to go through..). But the worst thing is of course when people notice one is taking a photo of them, some may grimace in a displeased manner or others simply get all shy and selfconscious. As best is if they pretend I'm not there or don't notice me, the same goes for models ;)

And argh, misty wonderfulness outside as I was on the bus home.. but since the camera was not in manual mode, it didn't look as good as I hoped it would. If only the bus had gone a bit slower and I could've snapped more shots. As it was so misty and hazy one could actually look almost directly at the sun without getting all that retinally burnt. I think I'll start using my flickr account to upload and store such pics so-so pics and beyond soon, that don't really fit in my DA galleries.

I ran into two people I know from before yesterday, one I knew in the gymnasium that I met up with a few months ago for dinner, and also an old classmate that I did also meet briefly during the spring show at Scylla's school. We spoke some of the woes of having kids and about family in general. Oh and, also met J there. Also met up with eoeo for a nice fika before I was to report in for photographic duties :)
