WORKING IT
Alrighty, new year and old worries.. But perhaps I'll become somewhat wiser this year after all..
Work-Work situation
Finding a job is seems even more difficult now, with a lot of layoffs due to the financial situation in the world and its repercussions. The northern regions of Sweden seem to have suffered the most. I guess money might not be funny even in the rich men's world right now?
I was at the employment agency yesterday morning, the lady assigned to my case said even practical training [with payment] wasn't possible 'til christmas[!] had I not found a job 'til then. As practical job training without any payment apparently isn't something they do at all. So worst case scenario, it could take a while for me to get more references to my currently slim CV listing. However, should I be able to find practical training with a huge chance of landing a job after that kind of "employment", I could in theory be able to receive some "funding".
Uni-esque situation
Lady at the employment agency thought it'd be real good if I did finish that LIS essay as well, so here goes, must find motivation to finish the darn thing even if it doesn't lead to a downright library job, a degree is better than none. It'd be so much fun if I could find a part time job that'd give me money over to study English C at uni as well, English was such a fun subject.
Catching up
Still way behind with stuff. But I've been sleeping better, my worry levels have also decreased some, so things are seeming better on the catching up front.
FASHIONS
Meanwhile, this small essay on
Women in Classical Greece was quite an interesting read. I came by it when doing an image search for Greek Fashion and ended up here:
The Greek Key and Divine Attributes in Modern Dress. Just look at the
floufy beige dress and the
slim black dress that is linked just under the article title. Gorgeous stuff.
And yes, sent a message to
briseis about
this evening dress, it's so her! But, if one could change one thing on that dress, it'd be the sleeves.. they felt somewhat sloppily done compared to the rest of the intriquate details and patterns on it..
One of these days..
I'm going to host a spectacular ball. Yup. People dressed up to their teeth. Maybe a Rokoko theme.. of course, it'd mean me being somewhat fiiiilthily riche (ohyes, noveau riche, with an e) and able to buy/make an own dress as well as afford to pay for the whole shebang, and perhaps also build a fabuloso mansion where the entire thing will be held. I got this idea for a dome like building or main ball room, with stone pillars, checkered floors and what not..
BATVERSE(S) ACTOR/CHARACTER MUSINGS
Also, let's say we get this dreamteam together for a DCverse movie..
I see
Christian Bale as Batman, yet he'd make a good Nightwing too perhaps? And I find myself wishing I had sooner seen/heard of the
Wonder Woman series that
Lynda Carter stars in earlier, as she seems to have been great in it. Now, that leaves us, say who should play Catwoman? I find myself thinking
Gabrielle Anwar might be the right woman for the job. She is one superb femme fatale in
Burn Notice.
Wonder Woman
Speaking of Wonder Woman, I've found myself wondering why the hell Wonder Woman of all people have such an American y outfit. I find myself thinking she'd look so much better in something Greek inspired, at least when it comes to patterns..
Slashy goodness
Righto, slash readers continue reading, slash non-readers shield your eyes and head to next section ;)
I stumbled over some seriously good Batman/Superman slashfanfics.
For the slightly angsty and slashy (but nothing really overly, quite classy actually) stuff, read:
Porridge..yesyes, the title isn't all that flashy, but I implore you to reaaaaaad. Mkay?
And, for some more slashy, funny, fluffy compleeeeetly silly stuff by the same author, I recommend that you (other slash readers) read:
Up on the House Top Thud, Thud, Thud GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION [bonuspoints for recognising the song I thought of when writing that header]
Oh and.. does anyone know of a good Swedish book for um föreningsliv, association/society stuff which involves keeping minutes and other? I don't wanna know (just) the basics about an association, I want to know the hardcore detail stuff about like afaik, if something isn't on the agenda sent out prior to the meeting, then nothing can be decided about that only discussed on the meeting.
REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA
Woohoo, thank you
neo_cool for tipping me about
Repo! The Genetic Opera. It has a bit of everything in it, and surprisingly a well acting Paris Hilton, then again maybe she doesn't need to act much at all, the role was definately one she with ease can relate to *grins*
I guess.. one could describe it as a mix of Lexx, Blade Runner and much more!
Some describe it as a sci-fi, rock'n'roll horror opera ;)
For those of you that are curious and don't mind getting slightly spoiled, I recommend taking a peek at this video for instance:
->
Repo Zydrate Anatomy [HQ] The Zydrate Anatomy song is also available on the official soundtrack, woo!
Here in mp3-form for instance..
Should you not mind a few potentially spoilery screencaps for Repo that were featured in a hilarious interview for Pretty-Scary.net, then have a read about the Scary Stud of November, namely Mr Zdunich who was also voted Scary Stud of the Year 2008 -
clickie heeere!
Mr
Terrance Zdunich has one fine voice *purrs* and he actually has done the comics illustrations in the movie as well, so writer, actor, illustrator and singer, a man of many talents! If only I could find a way to channel at least one my hobbies into something lucrative *hmms*
Ohyeah, you might want to take a peek at Mr Zdunich's webby too btw, the intro and overall theme is quite.. interesting, but if you don't like bugs, bewaaaare! ;)
http://www.terrancezdunich.com/ Aaand, Mr
Anthony Stewart-Head also is in this movie, you know Giles from Buffy, who I for one thought was great in the
Buffy Musical ep!
