I had to write an essay for criminology about consumerism in Western society. Some of it might be relevant to you and you could probably find some things to use in my reference list... if you're interested I could email you it? x

That would be amazing! Thank you!

Because the consumerism part is the part I'm struggling with, I can write about women in subcultures for forever but I don't know much about shopping bar that I can never afford it...:p

OK I've emailed it. I can't remember what grade I got for it, it was at least a 2:1 but maybe a first... I am a bit of a geek. xx

That's an awesome dissertation subject! Well...I kind of left this essay to the last minute, its due in in a week, so I haven't got time to read too much, but I'm going to the library tomorrow morning so feel free to recommend me a couple of especially good/relevent ones!

Hey! I'll add you back!

Thank you! I will definitely look into the first two! And I'll see what of th other ones my uni library has. At the moment I've got the Subculture Reader, and the Post Subculture Reader, and some stuff on Riot Grrrl so I probably do need a few other things.

I'm not worried about writing this one, I got a first on my exam for this module so I only need something like, 20% to pass, but I want to do well on it, not just pass :D

Umm, I actually had to look up consumerism. I didn't know the word in English. The phrasing of the question still isn't crystal clear to me.
Very generally and simplifying it a lot, does it mean "discuss how in subcultures, women buy a lot of t-shirts from their favourite bands but don't live the lifestyle they sing along to"? Because if that's it, ummm, it's not true at all.

If you're worried about being a bit too passionate, perhaps you should have someone somewhat neutral read it and tell you if they think you were too aggressive?
Someone from your course or something.

Simply put that is essentially it yes :D I was talking to my lecturer about it and saying how personally, I feel the female friens I go to shows with are far more into the ritual of resistance than the guys I go to gigs with, and he agreed that was probably true, but a lot of subcultural theory was alas written a while ago when the world was even more sexist than it currently is.

I'm going to send my lecturer a draft when I have a bit written so he can let me know if he thinks I'm going about it the right sort of way.

Oh! Also! Happy Birthday for yesterday! On my way to work yesterday I remembered and thought, oooh, need to wish her bon anniversaire when I get in, and then after 7 hours in work I completely forgot by the time I got back. I'm sorry!

Sometimes I think you make yourself seem far too judgemental when it comes to religion Megan (and I say 'make yourself seem' because I know you wouldn't actually be that judgemental). One of my best friends from college is a mormon and he is currently doing his missionary in Germany and we write to each other all the time and he is lovely and it upsets me that he gets abuse from people. Think back and ask yourself was there any need to glare? They were only asking for your time, and yeh ok it was to preach but some people may genuinely be interested in what they have to say.

AND HI I LEFT YOU A COMMENT ON FACEBOOK THAT INVOLVES ME COMING TO SEE YOU SO GO CHECK
