Public Transportation

So, I've been considering switching to public transportation for environmental and sanity reasons.

I make payments on my car. Even if I switch to public transportation, that won't go away. So, figure about $425/month for payment and insurance.

How feasible is it that you'll actually grade on the bus/train/whatever? I need a table and tend to spread out quite a bit, so if all I had was my lap I don't think I'd actually get the grading done, although I'd do a lot of pondering about planning and reflection on my day (which is what I do now during the 40 minutes I drive each way).
