"The very short of it is this: an MMO is a very good judge of how you would be if no social structure bound you to a moral code. It basically shows who you really are inside. And for some of you, I really worry."
You hit the nail on the head there. Part of the problem too is younger teens playing this game haven't had the time to develop thier social skills within that structure. They haven't learned whats right and whats wrong. Parents and/or environment could be to blame there. I feel sorry for them because a rude awakening is coming as they mature.

A few years ago there was a fellow on my family linkshell, a sixty-something dark knight who had been friendly with us. As we got to know him better, it became clear that he was a fifteen-year-old boy, his parents were very very rich but not around much and he was pretty much on his own. The one thing he did have was daddy's credit card, and he bought an awful lot of gil. And at the time, even a simple million gil was an awful lot of real-life money

While I obviously disagree that 16-year-olds with daddy's credit card buying assloads of gil should generally be looked down upon, I think the point was more that being an elitist is one thing; being a total cockmaster because someone doesn't have every bit (or better) gear than you do is ridiculous. And yes, I've actually seen people make fun of people (in seriousness) for not having something they themselves don't have for the same job.
ok so i began playing this game when i was just 15, i was an imature peice of shit, since then i feel i have grown up and matured in this game and in real life. iv left school got a job that iv held down for the last 19months. i feel my maturing in this game is thanks too certain people in this game, Mirnen Ramyrez and even Shmii. by playing this game iv interacted with intelligent adults who have taught me alot, it saddens me too leave, but i do thank you all, not only helping in game but helping me get my real life on track without even realising it :) im now halfway too 18 with a well paid job, a driving license and a real life that looks set for life. This game isnt all bad for teenagers, its the company the imature teenagers choose too be with. luckily i chose good company.
