What I thought was going to be a terrible day turned out really well ♥
I was due to go up to the tattoo place today. Stacey had an appointment booked until 12, so I wanted to get there just after opening so I could help set up and get settled before she started (it's awkward walking in and saying hi/unpacking/invading space when there's a customer in :I). I set my alarm, mum set hers.. and at five minutes after opening time, I woke up. Turns out I shut mine off and mum just decided not to get up, so we both slept through. I was really annoyed, but in the end I thought I'd aim to get there for 12 as she'd be finishing up. Irrelevant, but my walking songs where Diamond and Yorokobi, which got me there pretty fast x3
When I arrived it turned out that her appointment was Sophie :D Who was my best friend at college. The three of us together again was so weird, and it was weird but wonderful the way we squee'd at eachother and then just carried on talking as though there hadn't been a three year gap since our last conversation. She couldn't stay for long, so.. in the end I was glad I hadn't gotten there at opening, because I think it may have been awkward rather than exciting if we'd had three hours to talk.
The day went as days usually go at the shop; we spun around on the wheely chairs, searched google and tumblr to fight over references written in the drawing up book, Stacey had some new inks arrive so we cleaned out the drawer and organized them (while she babbled to me about them as though I'd understand all of the technical terms xD), Nathan decided he wanted to hang a new light up so I had to assist by clambering on counters and handing him tape.. It never sounds much interesting, but every time is always a fun experience for me, and I like to think my levels of normality rise from being in such a comfortable environment and fitting in. Being around art is so nice for me, and being behind the counter and having people come in and speak to me on (or even above lol) their level gives me a lot of confidence. And of course having such nice friends to spend time with makes me feel great, too ♥
We put the art I've brought in for them so far into frames and spent most of the day shuffling them around and debating where to store them to keep them safe, but then to my surprise just before he left work Nathan nailed them all up on the wall. I'm so excited~ There's only a few pieces there at the moment, but he's given me the whole wall to work with. It's the wall opposite the counter, next to the bed/couch Stacey works on, which is.. eiii! x3 When he said 'we'll put your work on a wall' I assumed he meant round a corner, or near the floor maybe, not that he was going to take their own work down and put mine in a prime position. It looks bitty and empty right now, but I'm super excited and motivated to get the whole wall filled. I must say I'm proud of myself ♥ It may only be a small step, but it's a start. If I could be one of those people that crapped out on their education to follow a dream and it worked, I'd definitely feel achieved.
